Synchronoss (SNCR) acquires cloud service provider NewBay from Research in Motion (RIMM) for $55.5M. CEO Stephen Waldis says the move is one of the first steps in a large expansion plan intended to boost SNCR's international presence with the takeover of a major European mobile operator.

Cisco (CSCO) is acquiring ClearAccess, a developer of software that allows service providers to manage and provision broadband modems and set-top boxes, and plans to integrate the startup's products with its Prime network management software. The news could be affecting shares of Synchronoss (SNCR -2%), though Synchronoss' provisioning software is largely used for mobile devices.

Synchronoss (SNCR -3.5%) sells off after announcing it's acquiring Miyowa, a developer of social networking and messaging software for mobile devices, for $45.5M + up to $13.5M in milestone payments. Miyowa's software complements Synchronoss' solutions for activating mobile devices and provisioning content/services. The company expects the deal to be "at least neutral" to its 2012 EPS.
