Goldman Cuts Estimates, Targets for Slew of Tech Stocks [view article]
Goldman sucks. Whatever they say, do the opposite. They are crooks. That being said, they say tech stocks are weak. I say buy all you can. Don't let them BS you and steal your shares. Tech is the best play right now through March!!!! Reply

Is there somewhere we can see these "cut" estimates? Downgrading someone like NVDA is just silly. The company is selling at a ridiculously cheap P/E and they are not indicating any slowdowns. Reply

Small-Cap Growth: Analyst Coverage Discount? [view article]
That's a good point. I do tend to use high analyst ratings as a negative input, though WHQ didn't really have such strong opinion behind it. I think that there is a persistent investment arbitrage potential in buying the names that aren't so recognized and trading them out potentially when they become recognized. Reply

Alan, the analyst optimism in WHQ would appear to be misplaced, at least in the short term, after the pre-announcement and lower guidance for the company. Your screen might be improved if a sell discipline was built. Maybe there's a "critical mass" of analysts at which excessive optimism is sure to result in underperformance. Given there's a finite number of sell-side firms with any real power over sentiment, there might be a trigger to sell when all the bulge-bracket firms cover a stock. (Note that I'm *not* suggesting that smaller-firm sell-side or independent analysts can't be more "right" than the big boys, just that they by definition they reach fewer people who actually follow their advice (blindly or not). Looks like you were a tad optimistic ... Apple closed today down $8.81.

Stability from fact...let's all remember AT & T stated that they had some issues relative to the flood of activations on the IPhone. Their current quarter only allowed for 30 hours of transactions. Likely the overwhelming activation issues curtailed the reporting numbers. Should I also remind you that ALL AT&T stores sold out of the IPhone within 4 days and 80% of ALL APPLE STORES SOLD OUT during the same period.

Remember what happened during December right before the Apple quarterly report...Some One and I won't mention names reported that Steve Jobs was NOT OUT OF THE WOODS on options back-dating...That dropped the stock price $12 in 3 days, allowing those that were late to the game to get in at $82.00 Well folks the same is true today.

I'll even stick my neck out and say that from June 29th till today, IPhone sale are in the neighborhood of 1.1 million, MAC CPU sales increased 6% and ITV remain at expectations while IPOD sales remain strong. And while Estimates range from $0.64 from AAPLE to $0.72 Wall Street, I'll bet the numbers are closer to $0.82.

A monster call or a hatchet job? The note is filled with silly anecdotal information (according to Kidron, most Apple store visitors were not looking at the device and only a small subset bought it. We have noticed decent inventories at stores, and thin demand at best) and short on facts. This is precisely the kind of vague research note you would expect from an analyst that DOES NOT EVEN cover Apple shares. I will be looking forward to Kidron's follow up note on Thursday after Apple puts up a blockbuster quarter due to surging Mac sales and a very strong iPhone launch. But, then again, he does not cover Apple shares so I doubt we will get the follow up. Reply

The Edge network is $20 a month. This is a lot cheaper than 3G. The two year cost of the iPhone is less than my current Smartphone. In January Steve announced that they would add 3G to the iPhone. Reply
