Monday, May 13, 11:53 AM Credit Suisse upgrades Sequenom (SQNM +7.5%) to Neutral and raises its price target to $4.50 from $4, citing decreased risk stemming from the company's five-year agreement with Blue Cross and Blue Shield (see CC) for the MaterniT21 PLUS test. Analyst Vamil Divan notes that "following daily moves in [the stock] can get one dizzy" — today is no exception — but CS sees SQNM running 175K tests in FY13 versus company projections of 150K and says that ultimately, robust volumes are enough to support the story at least for the foreseeable future. Total sales jumped 158% over the prior year, led by continued growth in diagnostic sales. Monday, January 7, 4:03 PM Sequenom (SQNM -2.3%) goes into the close a bit stronger than it started out the day, recovering some of its earlier 6% dip on some upbeat preliminary FY12 guidance posted over the weekend. The company said that it is expecting revenues of $89M, equating to a Y/Y growth rate of 59%, but the results were largely overshadowed by Illumina's (ILMN -7.3%) acquisition of Verinata, whose competing verifi test - which analyzes fetal DNA naturally found in a pregnant women's blood to look for missing or extra copies of chromosomes - carry's less risk than Sequenom’s SEQureDx technology. 2 Comments [Healthcare, Earnings, On the Move]
