Chinese OEMs Datang and DareGlobal will be supplying 4G TD-LTE devices to China Telecom in Q2 that feature Sequans' (SQNS +4.6%) Mont Blanc TD-LTE platform (includes a baseband processor,, transceiver, and software stack).
Both devices are single-mode, which means they won't work with China Telecom's 2G and 3G networks. Sequans faces Chinese 4G baseband competition from market leader Qualcomm, as well as MediaTek, Spreadtrum, and Marvell.
4G baseband chipmaker Sequans (SQNS -3.5%) slumps to $1.66 after pricing a 9M-share offering at $1.50. Sequans, which has been posting sizable losses as it struggles to compete against Qualcomm and other larger rivals, only says it will use the proceeds for "general corporate purposes." (PR)
