Bernstein's Pierre Ferragu sees Apple's (AAPL) global patent battles with Android vendors as a tempest in a teapot. Noting how HTC and Samsung (SSNLF.PK) have demonstrated or claimed workarounds (I, II) to Apple patents they've been deemed by courts to infringe, Ferragu expects the end result of all the squabbling will be "partial settlements" in which "essential and quasi essential" patents are cross-licensed.

Reviewers are generally raving about Samsung's (SSNLF.PK) Galaxy Nexus, the first smartphone to run on Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The Verge gives it a score of 8.6/10, while Engadget calls it "possibly ... the best phone available today, period." Apple (AAPL) won't be pleased to hear that, even if the Galaxy Nexus' large form factor is likely to keep some iPhone users from jumping ship. (also)
