More than 50% of Stamps.com's net income comes from INTEREST! Thus, if the fed had not reduced their rate, this company would be sqimming in cash. However, the fed did reduce their rate, and the company decided to take credit for part of its NOL asset, approx. 17.7 cents/share! Substract the 17.7 cents/share and the approx. 8.3 cents/share from their YTD Net-Income, and you may be shocked to learn that the company only earned approx. 7 cents/share in 6 months!!!

Stamps.com can grow substantially if and only if they hire someone who can innovate their business plan in such a way that individuals as well as small businesses join their service.

In regards to their website, traffic has slowed significantly primarily because they haven't really changed their marketing plan for a few years, now. A lot of information in their site has not even been updated since 2006.

This company might have been a good investment, but investors are actually limited to owning a fixed number of shares until their NOL asset is depleted. That means that in the short and mid-term Stamps.com's stock has no upward possibilities because many investors who believe in Stamps.com's future are already fully invested. This makes the shares vulnerable to short-sellers who know no one will be buying. Anticipate Stamps.com being listed as a "BUY" so that fully invested stockholders can rid themselves of this dud to inexperienced small investors.

Stamps.com: Boring is Good [view article]
    "Boring is Good".

Isn't that the motto carved over the door at Morningstar.com?

We may not wake up one day soon to find stamps obselete, but in the coming 2 decades I would have to imagine email and on-line bill-paying may make further inroads into the volume of mail. I wouldn't want to bet on this business model for the long-term, but the next 3-5 years would be a good window.
