LG Voyager Leads Surge in Online Xmas Shopping for Handsets [view article]
I suspect a very small portion of potential iPhone buyers use the AT&T site when they can use apple.com? ReplyDogs of Dow Merely In-Line During Current Bull Market [view article]
The DJ select dividend index has also been a pretty lousy performer this year, and highly volatile. Deep value is deeply undervalued. ReplyAT&T's Threat to Akamai Overblown [view article]
It is also instructive to look at AT&T's forays into internet TV over DSL (it's U-verse offering has taken enormously longer than projected to get rolling, amid a "universe" of problems and glitches), and even their DSL presence itself (which is significantly less than 100% coverage -- I'm not talking customer adoption rates, I'm talking just the mere availability of DSL -- within it's customer spaces, and is driving a lot of cable internet connection by virtue of its absence). And then there's also the glacial pace at which ATT is upgrading its cellular networks from EDGE to HSDPA.ATT can thank it's luck stars that they were able to work a deal with Apple locking in a measure of iPhone exclusivity, as if Verizon (for instance) had been willing to pay the price that Apple demanded and were offering the iPhone instead of ATT, the Cingular subscriber base would no longer be the largest in the market.
The only thing that keeps ATT afloat is its protected utility monopoly status -- if we ever did have actual competition in our phone markets, the spawn of Ma Bell would quickly wither and die.
The quick little niche-growers in the economic ecology have little to fear from the corporate dinosaurs. The biggest threat to Akamai is that ATT will opt to buy its way into the CDN business by purchasing Akamai at some juicy multiple of the current stock price. And that's not such a problem for the AKAM stockholders. Reply

Okay time to get back to biz at hand - althoughit was fun calling Obama a cocain-head and Hillary
a no-head out-sourcer ....
I got a question for all those seeking being PREZ????
Your driving down the Highway - you see in front of you
a very expensive car crash - In that car is a big donor
- and a big CEO - that promised job's doing out-sourcering
and push for free trade ----
Now as you get close to that wreck - across the highway - a
bus load of kids in a school bus crashe's ----
The CEO big biz CEO is trapped and needs you to - tie off a
bleeder and hold it ----
But the kids are trapped and the gas is working it's way to a
open fire - and will burn the kids alive ----
WIll you put the Big-Biz-Ceo ahead of the KIDS - after all there
will not be a JOB for them later in life - being all out-sourcered
and cheap labor coming in ???
Or do you save the KIDS - knowing full well - another greedy fool
- will do the out-sourcering for you ????
So do you save the American KIDS - or your rich-greedy out-sourcering -
cheap labor - donor ???
PLZ EXPLAIN WHY ???

JERUSALEM - Israel's public security minister warned Saturday that
a U.S. intelligence report that said Iran is no longer developing
nuclear arms could lead to a regional war that would threaten the
Jewish state.
"The American misconception concerning Iran's nuclear weapons is
liable to lead to a regional Yom Kippur where Israel will be among
the countries that are threatened," Dichter said in a speech in a
suburb south of Tel Aviv, according to his spokesman, Mati Gil.
"Something went wrong in the American blueprint for analyzing the
severity of the Iranian nuclear threat."

URGENT: Telecom Immunity Showdown in the Senate! The Senate is poised to grant retroactive immunity for telecoms that broke the law! On Monday, there will be critical, make-or-break votes in the Senate -- contact your Senator immediately to stop telecom immunity!
Senate lawmakers must support Senator Chris Dodd and other heroes in allowing a full debate to proceed on Monday, and they must vote to strip telecom immunity from the bill.
The Senate should not let the telecoms off the hook. Granting immunity sets a dangerous precedent, sending the message that lawbreaking is acceptable and that the rights of Americans can be freely infringed by private companies in defiance of the law. And though the debate about the proper process of collecting foreign intelligence is complex, the issue of telecom immunity is not. The facts are simple enough: the telecoms broke the law, so the Senate should let Americans have their day in court.

Now exactly how far are we going to let bush neocons go - all the way - there locked in there down hill free for all - in order too save fave - look at the mortgage companys - there locked into there tear the economy apart.A LIE ONLY BEGETS ANOTHER LIE ........
IT'S TIME FOR THE TRUTH TO STAND UP - AND STOP THE DESTRUCTION OF THESE UNITED STATE'S - WE THE PEOPLE - TO TAKE BACK WHAT BELONGS TO US....
"The world you live in -- "your nation, your people" -- is not the world you were in at all. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves; when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed. Now you live in a system which rules without responsibility even to God. The system itself could not have intended this in the beginning, but in order to sustain itself it was compelled to go all the way."

Verizon Finally Unveils iPhone Competition, Or "iPhone Equalizer" [view article]
I went out to have a look at the venus (voyager wasn't available yet) last week because I wanted a phone that could access the internet with a full browser. I currently have an EnV and don't really like it. The Venus looks like an incremental improvement over the EnV - the browser and user interface is just as crappy, so this is a no go for me. The Voyager looks (the model anyway) similar, but I'll with hold judgment till I see it work.I'm holding off from the iPhone (though it looks so cool) because mostly I don't really like Apple as a company. I don't like thr DRM in itunes and they way the iPhone is tied solely to one network. I understand why they would like to do so, but I guess I'm just asserting my individual consumer rights to disagree... Though my resolve is weakening by the day =) Reply
