Google (GOOG) says it will license TiVo's (TIVO) audience data to integrate with its Google TV Ads platform. The deal gives advertisers access to even more viewership data, "making Google's dataset one of the best in the industry," it says. "Advertisers can use this data to understand which audiences and ads are most effective, which we think will ultimately lead to more relevant ads for viewers."

Dish Network (DISH +7.4%) and sister company EchoStar (SATS -0.1%) are ordered to pay nearly $200M to TiVo (TIVO +8.4%) for contempt of an order to stop providing an infringing DVR service, though TiVo had sought $974.5M.

TiVo (TIVO) files a suit charging AT&T (T) and Verizon (VZ) with infringing three of its patents and seeking a permanent injunction to force the two companies to shut off their DVRs. The action is similar to one taken against Dish Network (DISH) and its sister company EchoStar (SATS), in what is becoming a protracted legal fight over time-shifting television.

Best Buy (BBY) teams up with TiVo (TIVO) on a multi-year advertising partnership. Best Buy will heavily promote TiVo in its stores, while TiVo will develop a version of its DVR that lets Best Buy advertise its products to TiVo customers at home.
