- Friday, January 11, 11:56 AM A sale is becoming Talisman Energy’s (TLM +0.8%) best bet, according to Bloomberg, after a two-year 48% plunge in shares leaves TLM's value at a lower multiple of EBITDA than 92% of North American explorers and producers of its size. Assets spanning from western Canada’s gas-rich Montney Shale to Southeast Asia are still worth C$26/share, Canaccord calculates. Comment! [Energy, M&A]
- Monday, December 17, 2012, 2:31 PM Talisman Energy (TLM +0.6%) completes a previously announced $1.5B deal with Sinopec (SNP -1.3%) for a 49% interest in the Canadian producer’s North Sea business. There was no serious opposition to the partnership, but it's the latest example of the growing cooperation between Canada and China in oil and gas development. 1 Comment [Energy, M&A, Global & FX]
- Monday, September 24, 2012, 10:41 AM Talisman Energy (TLM -2.3%) shares extend Friday's late losses after CEO Hal Kvisle said the company isn’t in discussions about selling out. Kvisle aims to identify assets, such as those in the North Sea, that require further investment. TLM agreed with Sinopec in July to invest $1.5B in the North Sea assets in exchange for a 49% stake. Comment! [Energy, M&A, On the Move]
- Monday, July 23, 2012, 10:53 AM Talisman's (TLM +6.4%) sale of 49% of its British North Sea business to Sinopec (SNP -1.9%) for $1.5B brings the proceeds from divestitures this year to $2.5B, and will enable Talisman to finance growth areas in its portfolio as well as to strengthen its balance sheet in the face of low natural gas prices in North America. Still, Talisman will also use $500M to repurchase stock. 1 Comment [Energy, M&A]
- Monday, July 23, 2012, 8:00 AM Sinopec (SNP) agrees to acquire 49% of Talisman Energy's (TLM) U.K. unit for $1.5B. TLM's shares +6.2%. (Bloomberg, via twitter.) Comment! [M&A, Breaking News, On the Move, Energy]
