- Monday, July 30, 2012, 3:45 PM TransCanada (TRP) plans to hold a non-binding public solicitation of interest to ask Alaska's big gas producers XOM, BP and COP if they support a pipeline project that would send liquefied natural gas from the North Slope to buyers overseas. TRP's original plan for an over-land pipeline may be giving way to an alternative plan to super-cool the gas and ship it overseas to buyers in Asia. 8 Comments [Energy]
- Monday, July 30, 2012, 10:27 AM The U.S. shale oil revolution can't be stopped, but it could be delayed by potential shortfalls of 10-ton valves and giant pipeline pumps essential for rebalancing markets upended by the surge in production. "The supply chain hasn't quite caught up" amid a $20B bonanza to build, expand or reverse two dozen pipelines in the past year. 3 Comments [Energy]
- Friday, July 27, 2012, 9:51 AM TransCanada (TRP -0.2%) is set to begin building its 485-mile Gulf Coast Project oil pipeline in a matter of weeks after getting a final go-ahead from U.S. authorities. “TransCanada is now poised to put ~4,000 Americans to work constructing the $2.3B pipeline that will be built in three distinct 'spreads' or sections," CEO Russ Girling says. (also: earnings) 1 Comment [Energy]
- Friday, July 27, 2012, 9:49 AM TransCanada Pipelines (TRP) declares $0.44/share quarterly dividend, in line with previous. Forward yield 3.98%. For shareholders of record Sep 28. Payable Oct 31. Ex-div date Sep 26. (PR) Comment! [Dividends]
- Friday, July 27, 2012, 8:49 AM TransCanada Pipelines (TRP): Q2 EPS of $0.46 misses by $0.02. Revenue of $1.91B (+0.5% Y/Y) misses by $330M. Shares -0.6% premarket. (PR) Comment! [Earnings]

- Wednesday, July 25, 2012, 6:06 PM Calls for TransCanada (TRP) to "go east" and stop focusing on the Keystone pipeline grow louder as RBC suggests converting part of TRP's natural gas mainline to oil service would “solve a lot of problems” for the company, the industry and the country. Such a conversion could drive up to $8/share of additional value in TRP shares, RBC says. 2 Comments [Energy]
- Thursday, June 28, 2012, 12:12 PM TransCanada (TRP) doesn't expect a material impact on earnings this year as a result of Bruce Power's recently submitted force majeure claim over the delayed restart of an Ontario nuclear reactor. Bruce Power believes its claim will be accepted, which would mean it would continue to receive contracted rates for power after July 1. Comment! [Energy]
- Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 5:15 PM "Keystone is out," a top Democrat Senate aide says, as a proposal forcing quick approval of the Keystone (TRP) oil pipeline will not be part of a massive transportation funding bill the U.S. Congress is trying to pass by week's end. Language barring EPA regulation of coal-ash waste also appears to have been dropped from the bill. 2 Comments [Energy]
- Wednesday, June 27, 2012, 12:10 PM TransCanada (TRP +1.9%) confirms it has won federal approval to build the southernmost section of the massive pipeline it plans to supply crude oil from the Cushing, Okla. storage hub to Gulf Coast refiners. TRP needs permits from two other Army Corps of Engineers districts before it can start constructing the 700K bbl/day pipeline. Comment! [Energy, On the Move]
- Wednesday, June 20, 2012, 9:37 AM TransCanada (TRP -0.4%) cuts its natural gas output forecast and says the cost of shipping gas across Canada will rise by nearly a third as a result. The changed forecast also throws a wrench into a National Energy Board hearing into tolls on the Mainline, the cross-Canada pipeline that connects western gas with central and eastern markets. 4 Comments [Energy]
- Friday, June 15, 2012, 2:32 PM The U.S. State Department files plans for a new supplemental environmental impact statement for TransCanada's (TRP +0.5%) Keystone Pipeline. After the project was rejected Jan. 18, TRP proposed a new application with a different route that avoids the Sand Hills region of Nebraska, the site of a large aquifer. A comment period on the proposal begins today, continuing until July 30. Comment! [Energy]
- Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 6:35 PM If sliding gasoline prices spoil your argument, then call it a jobs plan, as House Republicans unveil a broad energy bill that expedites permits and expands Alaska drilling leases. The bill has no chance of passing the Democrat-led Senate, but one piece might eventually become law: the Keystone oil pipeline (TRP). Proponents see the weak May jobs report as forcing Pres. Obama's hand. 1 Comment [Energy]
- Tuesday, June 5, 2012, 8:27 AM TransCanada (TRP) is selected by Shell (RDS.A) to design, build, own and operate the proposed Coastal GasLink project, a ~$4B pipeline that will transport natural gas from the Montney gas-producing region near Dawson Creek, B.C. to the recently announced LNG Canada liquefied natural gas export facility near Kitimat, B.C. Comment! [Energy]
- Wednesday, May 23, 2012, 6:10 PM Approving the Keystone XL (TRP) pipeline could boost U.S. global warming emissions by as much as 0.3%/year, a CRS report says - not exactly "game over" for the climate but still like putting 4M extra passenger cars on the road. But it's not just Keystone XL; there are plans to send 3.1M bbl/day of oil sands from Alberta to export markets, ~5x as much as Keystone XL. 4 Comments [Energy]
