- Monday, May 13, 8:42 PM For those still keeping score, Tesla (TSLA) added another 14.38% to last week's post-earnings bonanza , bringing the three-day total percentage change to +57%. Amusingly, the rally didn't let up AH either, as the stock tacked on an additional 2.51%, hitting $90 just before 8 p.m. 22 Comments [On the Move, Consumer]

Premarket gainers: UNIS +25%. SUTR +20%. THRX +13%. PERI +13%. NBG +11%. IGLD +10%. TSLA +6%. CSIQ +5%. SPWR +5%.
Losers: AFFY -8%. UNXL -5%. Comment! [On the Move] - Monday, May 13, 8:08 AM Shares of Tesla Motors (TSLA) move up 2.3% premarket as last week's earning report euphoria doesn't show any early signs of fading. Pacific Crest may have seen enough of the momentum/short squeeze run, warning that over the long term the automaker needs to ramp up gross margins to 25% from 5% and demonstrate sustainable demand. 19 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Friday, May 10, 12:20 PM Call it momentum or call it a short squeeze, but one way or another shares of Tesla Motors (TSLA +11.8%) are putting in their routine double-digit gain and cleared $80 before settling back. The trading puts Tesla's share price at nearly 80X 2014 earnings estimates, meaning buying the EV automaker today is a bet that its technology will be truly transformative. One company in harm's way from the Tesla juggernaut could be Toyota (TM +2.2%) if Tesla stays ahead in battery development. It's an apples-to-oranges comparison (cost), but today the Prius claims a limited driving range of 11 miles/charge compared to the Model S's range of 260 miles. 11 Comments [Consumer, Global & FX]
- Friday, May 10, 10:26 AM Tesla Motors (TSLA +14.6%) tightens its grip on the shorts, now up 43% in 2 days following Wednesday's earnings. Ivan Hoff extrapolates into the future and suggests Tesla could be a $100B company in 10 years (that's all?). Musk's SolarCity (SCTY +9.4%) gains as well. 32 Comments [On the Move]

Premarket gainers: BKS +29%. TSLA +24%. CTRP +17%. GMCR +15%. GRPN +15%. XOMA +12%. TC +12%. OWW +7%. AFFY +7%. WAC +7%.
Losers: LPSN -22%. RAX -21%. PZZI -17%. GV -11%. MNST -10%. SSNC -7%. HEK -7%. 2 Comments [On the Move] - Thursday, May 9, 8:43 AM The Tesla Motors (TSLA) Model S is the first car to achieve a score as high as 99 out of 100 in detailed testing from Consumer Reports since 2007. The publication bought a car anonymously in January and went through the Tesla experience from start to finish with hardly any hitches while being thoroughly impressed by performance (like a "Porsche") and energy efficiency. TSLA +23.3% premarket as the good news keeps piling in. 7 Comments [Consumer, On the Move]
- Thursday, May 9, 6:55 AM Goldman Sachs downshifts on Tesla Motors (TSLA), taking the red-hot automaker down to Neutral with a $61 price target on valuation concerns. Yesterday's Q1 report (I, II) from Tesla showed better-than-expected margins along with sales and production numbers that were on track to help the company meet or beat its full-year forecasts. Goldman's call is far from the ruling the day, TSLA +17.2% premarket to $65.32. 16 Comments [Consumer]

Wednesday, May 8, 5:53 PM
After-hours top gainers, as of 5:30 p.m.: TSLA +17%. GMCR +12%. GRPN +10%. EOX +6%. EXAM +6%.
After-hours top losers: RAX -17%. OME -14%. LPSN -13%. MNST -12%. OFIX -9%. Comment! [On the Move] - Wednesday, May 8, 4:50 PM More on Tesla Motors' (TSLA) Q1: The company says it produced over 5K Model S vehicles during the period to beat its early production estimate. As production rose, efficiencies kicked in and helped gross margin double Q/Q to 17%. In Q2, Tesla sees delivering just over 4.5K vehicles in North America and thinks it will beat its full year 20K vehicle delivery estimate. The next quarter will also see a moderate pickup in operational expenses and R&D expenses. TSLA +15.2% AH. (shareholder letter .pdf) 19 Comments [Consumer, Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, May 8, 4:41 PM Tesla Motors (TSLA): Q1 EPS of $0.12 beats by $0.08. Revenue of $562M (+16% Y/Y) beats by $63M. Conference call scheduled for 5:30 PM EST. Shares +8.1% AH to $60.33. (PR) 32 Comments [Consumer, Breaking News, Earnings, On the Move]

- Tuesday, May 7, 12:34 PM Google (GOOG -0.6%) roundup:1) Elon Musk says Tesla (TSLA) is talking with Google about using its self-driving tech. But he views it as the equivalent of a plane's autopilot mode rather than a total replacement for human control, and criticizes the cost of Google's sensor system - Musk says Tesla will likely develop a cheaper camera-based system. 2) ChannelAdvisor reports same-store sales for clients via search ads rose only 2.3% Y/Y in April. Sales via shopping engines (such as Google Shopping) rose 6.1%. 3) TheStreet's Anton Wahlman points out Google Glass could see strong commercial uptake. Soldiers, emergency personnel, and retail industry workers are named as potential users. 4 Comments [Tech, Consumer]
- Tuesday, May 7, 7:11 AM Tesla Motors (TSLA) is only a day away from reporting Q1 earnings with analysts still taking estimates higher. Jefferies sees a subtle penny profit for the EV company during the period, but takes its view on 2014 EPS all the way up to $1.54-$1.64 as revenue revs up. Comment! [Consumer]
