JPMorgan drops Tyson Foods (TSN) to Neutral, saying any upside is already priced in to shares. Firm also notes recent increases in corn and hog prices and "a pending increase in supply from competitor Sanderson Farms (SAFM)." Shares -1.2%.

After denying earlier rumors, Brazilian beef company JBS announces it's buying a 64% stake in bankrupt poultry producer Pilgrim's Pride (PGPDQ.PK), creating a giant new U.S. rival for Tyson Foods (TSN -1%).

"Though there is no evidence that swine flu can be obtained by eating pork, the fear generated by a disease named after hogs cannot be good for pork consumption," JPMorgan comments this morning, cutting earnings estimates for Tyson Foods (TSN) and Smithfield Foods (SFD), noting as well generally weak margins. TSN -8.9%, SFD -13.9% early on.
