Titan International (TWI -8.2%) adds to Friday's losses, bringing the two-day sell-off to ~14%. Jefferies downgrades the shares to Hold from Buy and cuts its FY13 EPS estimate to $1.75 from $2 citing comments from CEO Maurice Taylor last week regarding destocking. Not to be outdone, Feltl (Hold from Buy), William Blair (Market Perform from Outperform), and Janney Montgomery (Neutral from Buy) all cut their ratings on the shares as well.

Titan International (TWI -7.2%) plummets after CEO Maurice Taylor pulls an "I told you so" regarding reports of tire shortages. "I have stated over and over that talk of tire shortages [is] false," he says, adding that "in the past couple months, millions of dollars in tires have been dropped into the aftermarket from the OEMs in the farm and construction industries." Taylor notes that he will need to assess market conditions before giving specifics but warns previous guidelines "will be revised down." (PR)

Rubber-related stocks are having a tough day with Goodyear Tire & Rubber (GT -3.4%), Cooper Tire & Rubber (CTB -2.6%), Berry Plastics Group (BERY -4.4%) and Titan International (TWI -3.6%) all dipping lower. Macroeconomic concerns and news on higher rubber duties could be swaying sentiment.

Titan International (TWI -17.8%) gets hammered after its Q4 missed the mark late yesterday. Net earnings swung to a loss as the tire makers results were hurt by a number of factors, including a larger tax provision, a slowdown in construction in Europe which negatively impacted its newly acquired Titan Europe business, as well as extra costs for starting up a wheel facility after an earthquake in Italy.

Titan International (TWI +5.3%) shares are sharply higher after Jefferies raises its rating to Buy from Hold, seeing a favorable risk/reward profile following a recent pullback. The firm views a potential guidance update and more discussion of its Europe acquisition as potential catalysts for TWI; otherwise, it sees earnings and forecast risk in machinery stocks CAT, ETN and KMT.
