Economic conditions have hindered retailers in general over the past 3+ years so executing a restructuring plan under these conditions will take some time before positive results are seen. When you review the history of the company Trans World has seen its tough times before and recovered well from it. Review of the Executive team shows many of the top execs have 15-25+ years of commitment to this company. Many were the Execs involved with past turn arounds. I like to believe they are not ready to so easily throw in the towel. I believe in the next 12-18 months you are going to see positive results from their restructuring efforts. At $5 a share - good deal even for a liquidation or sale of the company. Bob Higgins has 30+ years of very successful expereince in making money and building value in the company. If he was willing to pay $5 a share, he obviously believes its worth more than that. Today: $2.50 -$3 a share should be seriously considered a steel as long as you are willing to give it some time.

Care to comment why you think this company has not yet been liquidated? Seems there are few, maybe none, willing buyers; the company is losing money, can't get a positive return on its assets as an operating business; wonder why no large shareholder has made a push for the company to sell of its inventory, real estate, etc. and pay off shareholders? Evidently a contract resolution with a terminated supplier/vendor over materials under contract was mishandled...

FRPT is a relatively new (MRAP producing) company that once hitting the NASDAQ should have hired competent accountants but the prior management didn't and we stockholders have seen the PPS drop from $30+ to $3. Part of that was due to DoD's awarding contracts to poorly made competitors' products. FRPT trucks are a key to victory in Iraq/Afghanistan , especially if the "Cheetah" gets major contracts from DoD,Brits,Iraqis,Canad... and other allies of the U.S.. FRPT has a sole source on the "Buffalo" and its "Cougar" vehicles have never had a death in over 2,000 IED/EFP explosions in the war zone. Reply

Beware the heavily shorted stock, and the above list is loaded with these wounded birds. USU's life and death hang on the ACP, a breakthrough method of uranium enrichment. Proven in the lab, it remains to be seen if it will function without cost distractions on a production basis. The slightest hint of uncertainty will cause the stock to tumble below $4. Promising developments or just plain optimism can vault the stock into the high 5's and above. We won't know for sure until 2009/2010. There is also a decision by the Supreme court on anti-dumping that could greatly affect USEC's fate. Is enriched uranium a finished product or a raw material? The court is very patriotic. They will decide on the formet, irrespective of legal merit, and save USEC. Disclosure: I hold a small interest in the company, but am aware of its vulnerability to shorting and bad news. Reply

But why use two "Net" words. Does it mean NET current assets - NET liabilities. It seems a funny name to me. Reply

Net/Net refers to companies that are trading below their Net Current Asset Value. Net Current Asset Value is derived by the following: Current Assets-Current Liabilities- All Long Term Liabilities. This is then compared to market cap. Ben Graham devised the formula, although he preferred companies trading at less than 2/3 NCAV. For more, please refer to postings on the site. Reply

Could you explain for the humble retail investor what this term "net/net" means? It gets used from time to time in these articles without any explanation and it isn't obvious from context... Reply
