AOL's Latest (and Last?) Effort To Make the Portal Relevant [view article]
Problem is, this should have been done 5 years ago. Now the AOL users that are left are going to figure out that AOL is not the Internet. ReplyAOL Pulls the Trigger: Direct Access to Competing Services on AOL.com [view article]
Removal of ads at the bottom of AOL emails would be nice too. ReplyAOL Pulls the Trigger: Direct Access to Competing Services on AOL.com [view article]
Now all they need is to allow forwarding to another email address and address export! ReplyAOL's Latest (and Last?) Effort To Make the Portal Relevant [view article]
Julia, I'm not sure it's fair to say "Perhaps most likely, this is probably a way to spruce up the division--and its numbers--before Time Warner (TWX) attempts to spin it off."This is AOL's attempt to rethink how it can add value. Becoming a "start page" for all your email accounts etc. in a way that the other major players won't is a gutsy move.
The key question in my mind is whether this will actually generate ad inventory and dollars for AOL - there just aren't enough pages with AOL's own content in this strategy. Reply

DOW JONES INDUSTRIAL AVERAGE-This is not a good time to invest at all. It would be safer to be on the sidelines with cash.I believe the market is about to take a hit!
In turn many stocks will go down.
Reasons: bank failures, financial institutions are in trouble, the political climate for electing a president is in turmoil and last but not least, the danger is rising for an attack of some kind marking the 7 year anniversary of 9/11.

Slow Online Ad Growth Could Impact '09 Outlook [view article]
Excellent article! I totally agree! I think the market is overrun with too much advertising, It's a waste, and a real pity. Products should be advertised, obviously, but the overkill is expensive, and drives the expenses of the company who sells the product, up, therefore, driving prices up. A good product can speak for itself, and word of mouth will always be the best advertising, no matter how advanced the industry becomes.I hope ebay will figure this out, they are obviously, as you say, working from the top down.. Search vs. Display Ads: The Gap Widens [view article]
If advertisers are smart, that trend will change quickly. Here's why....mattlillig.blogspot.co...
"When marketers supplement search with display impressions, they get a significant lift in conversions. Unfortunately, most advertisers that run both search and display are unaware of this...” The study demonstrated that "users exposed to both search and display ads convert at a higher rate: an average of 22 percent better than search alone and 400 percent better than display only."
Advertisers who focus on only search are risking a 22% lift in conversions.

Tom B should grow up and mature some. The rent-a-cops are no more owned by the RNC than the rent-a-cops that arrested many in Denver were owned by the DNC. ReplyTV Execs Salivating Over Sarah Palin [view article]
Sarah will slay them tonight verbally, she is a great speaker and has something important to say to all of America, the rumor mongering group cannot sully her reputation by nit picking about her past in Alaska and her family although they will try. Yea, they'll show the air-head and NOT run the footage of peace demonstrators and JOURNALISTS being arrested and roughed-up by Republican rent-a-cops without visible badges. Reply
