Yesterday's announcement (.pdf) that Abu Dhabi's ATIC will buy Chartered Semiconductor (CHRT) for $1.8B could spell trouble for Taiwan's leading chip manufacturers, including Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) and United Microelectronics (UMC).
