- Thursday, April 18, 11:46 AM In it's conference call earlier, UnitedHealth (UNH -3.5%) CEO Stephen Hemsley reiterates its cautious stance on stated-based insurance exchanges, saying the company hasn't changed its view about selling insurance over exchanges set to open later this year under the health-care overhaul law. "We will be very selective in where we participate and do not believe the exchanges will be a significant factor for us," Hemsley noted. (Webcast). 3 Comments [Healthcare, Earnings]
- Thursday, April 18, 8:27 AM More on UnitedHealth (UNH -3.3%) Q1: net profit -14% to $1.19B, partly because of lower government payments. Medical costs +13% to $22.57B. Reiterates 2013 EPS forecast of $5.25-5.50 vs consensus of $5.51, but says that the impact of sequestration will affect the upper end. Cuts revenue outlook to $122B from a prior forecast of $123-124B and vs consensus of $123.76B, due to a major client switching its insurance to a self-funded approach. (PR) 4 Comments [Healthcare, On the Move, Earnings]

- Thursday, January 17, 9:47 AM More from the UnitedHealth (UNH +0.6%) earnings call: 1) medical membership +600,000 in January. 2) sees EPS near the "top side" of its $5.25-$5.50 forecast and doesn't have negative light for 2014 EPS outlook. 3) 2013 pricing and markets have been better than in 2012 and expects medical costs to rise 5-6% this year. 4) doesn't foresee a dramatic effect on membership from exchanges. (Webcast) Comment! [Earnings, Healthcare]
- Thursday, January 17, 9:00 AM From the UnitedHealth (UNH -0.8%) Q4 earnings call: As there are many unknowns about exchanges, UNH is holding back on making specific decisions until there is more clarity. However it would expect to participate in 10-25 or more, although it gives no firm commitment. "In a perfect world we would participate in them all." In the long term, UNH expects to provide an exchange category. (Webcast) Comment! [Healthcare, Earnings]
