Tuesday, June 4, 12:20 PM UniPixel (UNXL +6.7%) rallies after announcing it's showing off 10.1" and 13.3" UniBoss touch sensor prototypes at this week's Computex trade show. The company says the prototypes are the same ones it recently showed off at Cowen and Craig-Hallum conferences, and don't "show any extraneous effects when viewing the display." Friday, May 31, 6:02 PM Discussing the UniBoss touch sensor film sample pictures posted by SA contributor Seth Shaw in his bearish column on UniPixel (UNXL -22.9%), a source tells Barron's Tiernan Ray the sample unit is 18 months old and broken, and that UniPixel will show off a demo unit that "will work just fine" at an industry conference next week. The source also speculates UniPixel shares saw naked short selling today, given 9M shares were traded (more than an estimated float of 6M-7M). Friday, May 31, 12:26 PM UniPixel (UNXL -17%) tanks again after SA contributor Seth Shaw posts pictures of UniBoss touch sensor film that he considers indicative of poor quality. Seth: "The product does not work. The lines are too visible. No consumer electronics company would approve this..." He also shows a picture of a UniBoss demo unit with broken lines, and says talks with engineers and ex-employees revealed doubts about UniPixel's ability to mass-produce UniBoss. Wednesday, May 29, 5:59 PM UniPixel (UNXL -7.9%) fell hard again today in the absence of major news. Though shares are still up 42% YTD and over 3x from a year ago, they're now down 53% from their April 17 high. Yesterday, Feltl's Jeffrey Schreiner reported rival metal mesh touch sensor developer Atmel (ATML) sees Fujifilm as a "much more significant competitor" than UniPixel. Atmel management told Schreiner the company expects to qualify its Colorado facility for XSense production by the end of May, but that delays have led it to put orders from tier 2/3 clients on hold. Wednesday, May 22, 11:26 AM Unipixel (UNXL +2.4%) is reiterated a Buy by Cowen & Co.'s Rob Stone who calls Friday's 26% plunge overdone. "It is logical for the PC OEM partner to delay a new product launch within months of an operating system update," he writes. Monday, May 20, 10:25 AM UniPixel (UNXL +4.8%) announces the receipt of a $5M milestone payment related to its deal with an unnamed "major touchscreen ecosystem partner;" the payment will be recognized as deferred revenue in Q2. The company adds the installation of equipment for touchscreen film printing lines at its new Kodak facility will start this quarter, and equipment for 6 plating lines will arrive at its Kodak and Lufkin, TX facilities in June/July. Friday, May 17, 6:50 PM UniPixel (UNXL -26%) crashed today in the absence of major news. Williams Financial's Cody Acree, who rates shares a Buy: "There were a lot of speculative things today, a lot of which probably got blown out of proportion." Among other things, Acree notes a recent Apple patent application for a large-display touch sensor panel (not a competitive threat), and the fact a 13G filed by Goldberg Capital notes the firm's stake in UniPixel has fallen to 5.25% (Acree says this is only due to dilution from the stock offering).
