- Monday, April 15, 1:06 PM United Rentals (URI -8.8%) fall off sharply and appears to be another casualty of a soft reading of the Internet Truckstop's Market Demand Index. Shares are at their lowest levels since late January. Comment! [Consumer, On the Move]
- Tuesday, March 5, 4:54 PM United Rentals (URI +5.5%) was a strong gainer after U.K.-based peer Ashtead Group reported upside Q3 results, as "strong momentum continued with 26% revenue growth in the quarter, giving 19% for the nine months to date." BofA views Ashtead's positive results as a "positive read-across" for Buy-rated URI, Ashtead's Sunbelt chain's biggest U.S. competitor. Comment! [Consumer]
- Thursday, January 24, 7:48 PM The most recent survey shows that loans and leases for business equipment in the U.S. rose 6% in December from a year ago, as companies staged their usual year-end rush to complete purchases. Financing on new equipment hit a record $11.5B last month, up from $10.8B a year ago. For the year, business volume rose 14% over 2011 to $84.4B. December is typically the busiest month of the year for financing, as companies complete budgeted purchasing programs, but this year was undoubtedly boosted by concerns over potential changes to federal tax depreciation rates under the looming fiscal cliff threat. 1 Comment [U.S. Economy]
- Thursday, January 24, 12:19 PM United Rentals (URI +2.8%) gains after posting a solid bottom-line beat on its Q4 late yesterday, and in spite of the slight miss on revenue. Net earnings rose 41% Y/Y as the equipment-rental company continues to see a recovery in demand, higher rental rates and a boost from its RSC Holdings acquisition last April. The company also gave a cautious revenue outlook for 2013, now expecting to earn between $4.9B to $5.1B, which is below Street estimates of $5.18B. Comment! [Earnings, On the Move]
- Wednesday, January 23, 4:16 PM United Rentals (URI): Q4 EPS of $1.27 beats by $0.26. Revenue of $1.25B misses by $0.01B. Shares -2.3% AH. (PR) Comment! [Earnings, Breaking News, On the Move]

[On the Move] - Wednesday, October 17, 2012, 10:15 AM Shares of United Rentals (URI +10.5%) ride the firm's profit-busting Q3 to a double-digit gain as demand for industrial and commercial rental equipment exceeded expectations. By the looks of it, the acquisition of RSC Holdings is paying off for the company with margin improvement now front and center. Comment! [On the Move, Consumer]
