- Thursday, December 13, 2012, 5:45 PM In a meeting with investors and analysts today, United Technologies (UTX) Chairman & CEO Louis Chenevert narrows the company's EPS expectations for 2012 to around $5.32 per share, towards the higher end of its prior range forecast of $5.25 to $5.35. The company continues to expect sales of approximately $58B. Chenevert also projected FY13 earnings to come in around $5.85 - $6.15, with sales expected to be $64B - $65B. Comment!
- Thursday, December 13, 2012, 10:14 AM United Tech's (UTX) Sikorsky Aircraft and L-3 Communications (LLL) lose out as BAE Systems (BAESF.PK) wins a contract of up to $400M over the next five years to maintain over 300 U.S. Navy trainer aircraft. It's a particular blow for Sikorsky, which was the incumbent. The deal includes an initial base term as well as multiple options. Comment!
- Thursday, December 13, 2012, 3:36 AM SkyWest (SKYW) has finalized an agreement to acquire 100 Mitsubishi Regional Jets in a deal worth $4.2B at list prices and has taken an option for another 100. Mitsubishi Aircraft expects to start delivering the 70-90 seat planes, which will be fitted with Pratt & Whitney (UTX) engines, in 2017. Comment! [Consumer]
- Thursday, December 6, 2012, 5:20 PM United Technologies (UTX) terminates its agreement to sell its pump and engine control systems business to TransDigm (TDG), citing DoJ objections to the transaction. Sale of the pump and engine control systems unit is one of the divestitures required as a condition of UTX's acquisition of Goodrich Corporation. UTX intends to comply with its obligation to sell the business to a buyer acceptable to the DoJ and European Commission. Any proposed transaction continues to be subject to regulatory approvals in the U.S. and other jurisdictions. Comment! [M&A]
- Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 2:08 PM United Tech's (UTX +1.3%) Sikorsky Aircraft unit says the longer-term outlook for military helicopters remains positive, in spite of potential automatic spending cuts that may pressure the U.S. defense budget. Several new programs - including a U.S. Air Force competition for new search and rescue helicopters and a U.S. Navy competition for new presidential helicopters - will survive, even if the Pentagon is forced to make additional budget cuts. Comment! [On the Move, U.S. Economy]
- Thursday, November 1, 2012, 3:52 AM GE Aviation (GE) and United Technologies (UTX) win decent-sized contracts to continue working on the Pentagon's Adaptive Engine Technology Development program until late 2016. GE's deal is worth $349M and United Tech's $335M. Comment!
- Thursday, October 25, 2012, 3:55 PM Transdigm Group (TDG +2.5%) agrees to acquire Goodrich's pump and engine control systems business from United Technologies (UTX -0.7%) for ~$236M. The business expects ~$195M in 2012 revenues with EBITDA in the low teens as a percent of revenue. Comment! [M&A, On the Move]
- Tuesday, October 23, 2012, 8:07 AM More on United Tech (UTX +2.7%) Q3: net profit +6.9% to $1.42B, boosted by the acquisition of Goodrich, although forex fluctuations hurt earnings by $0.07/share. Holds FY EPS outlook at $5.25-$5.35 vs consensus of $5.30 but says revenue will be at lower end of $58B-$59B guidance range, due to "the lack of recovery in the commercial aerospace aftermarket and continued uncertainty in the global economy." Comment! [Earnings]
- Tuesday, October 23, 2012, 6:31 AM United Technologies (UTX): Q3 EPS of $1.37 beats by $0.20. Revenue of $15B (+6% Y/Y) misses by $550M. (PR) Comment! [Earnings]

The deal is subject to regulatory approval in the U.S., EU, and China. (PR) Comment! [M&A]
- Thursday, October 11, 2012, 8:45 AM Pratt & Whitney (UTX), building an engine for Airbus SAS’s A320neo, says orders may double for the new geared turbo-fan powerplant as airlines seek new planes to curb fuel costs that have jumped 43% in the past two years. The United Technologies unit has won orders for variations of the new engine from Airbus, Bombardier, Irkut and Mitsubishi Aircraft. Comment!
- Wednesday, October 10, 2012, 3:50 PM United Technologies (UTX) declares $0.535/share quarterly dividend, in line with previous. Forward yield 2.77%. For shareholders of record Nov 16. Payable Dec 10. Ex-div date Nov 14. (PR) Comment! [Dividends]
- Friday, October 5, 2012, 5:24 PM GenCorp (GY) and United Technologies (UTX) have received requests for additional information from the FTC in connection with GY's proposed acquisition of the Rocketdyne division of UTX. The requests extend the waiting period during which the parties may not close the acquisition until 30 days after both companies have complied with the requests. GY now expects to close the acquisition in H113. Comment! [M&A]
- Friday, September 28, 2012, 2:57 PM United Technologies (UTX -0.2%) slips today on a downgrade to Perform at Oppenheimer on the back of the company's analyst day, saying that 2013 poses a challenge due to a lack of catalysts over the near term and increasing economic headwinds in its defense business. Comment! [Tech]
