Sales and margins within the coatings segment fall 1% and 110 basis points respectively, on lower demand for the industrial product line. VAL will take restructuring charges of $18-23M across FY13 and FY14 which, along with other measures, will result in annual savings of ~$0.10 per share from 2015 forward. Net earnings slipped a surprise 1.3% Y/Y on flat revenue out of its its key coatings segment and a decline in paint revenue. The paint and coatings maker lowered earnings estimates for the year as well, citing weak demand in its key international markets.
