  • S&P 500 Dividend Aristocrats provide good investment opportunities by Avi Morris
Standard & Poor's Dividend Aristocrats are the elite dividend payers in the S&P 500.  To be included, each company is required to have a minimum track record of 25 consecutive years of higher dividends.  But this group has been shaken after the market meltdown.  Seven... More »

  • VFC - taking my loss by Lee Eugene Munson
Was crappy today and broke down. I sold out and couldn't do it fast enough. Love the firm, but the sector was fine except it. I say short retail after the end of the quarter and if things look bad 31 days from now, maybe. Especially if VFC can hit a 5% yield.

  • VFC and HD - in it to win it. by Lee Eugene Munson
Yes, I held them. The short on SDS helped pay for the timing issues. VFC has a stop around 55 (at 55 it broke the trend line). HD is simply 22ish. No magic.Remember - high quality only until the end of the quarter. Then we will look at shorts in the crappy sectors (including retail, SCC!!!). More »

  • SDS - just a rental into the FOMC by Lee Eugene Munson
I know, who would do this? Me.Nobody out there wants to buy or short. Momentum is slow and all you need is a little push. Not expecting a big move, but may make sitting in HD and VFC a little more interesting. Also looking at URE for a push.

  • VFC - back in on quality by Lee Eugene Munson
VFC is a quality name and if there are managers that want to window dress a strong firm with a 4% dividend in their portfolio's, this is the one. Forget the beat up retailers, the Hot Topics and Urban Outfitters of the world. This is the blue chip with enough volatility to keep me interested.Did... More »

  • UTX - sick boy . . . by Lee Eugene Munson
Not great today . . .It is on the block right now and I will need to repost the chart. Also looking at DHI and VFC tonight. UTX has a stop around 50, but the longer in the trade . . .Should have rasied the stop a week ago.

  • VFC - again, too soon by Lee Eugene Munson
Ok, I admit it, still playing VFC to quick. Yes, I made money today on it, but selling at the pop onn 58.50 was not like leaving half to close above 59+. The game now is to see if I can get 'back in' under 60 or see if it can break out and hold support at 60 then buy. I know, if you think it get... More »

  • Filtered Equity Income Stock Prospects by Richard Shaw
We are increasingly asked about low risk individual stocks that may be suitable for an equity income allocation within a portfolio.  This is a general response to that question. Before offering a prospect list in which you might find attractive ideas, we want to make it clear that... More »
