Jefferies is making a bullish call on TiVo (TIVO +2.1%) ahead of today's FQ3 report. The firm is encouraged by TiVo's strong momentum with U.S. cable providers, most recently evidenced by its deal with Cable ONE, and noted Virgin Media (VMED) added 206K TiVo subs in Q3. Should TiVo get a $1B-$2B settlement from Motorola Mobility, Jefferies believes shares are worth $15-$20 on a sum-of-the-parts basis, even if one excludes TiVo's core DVR business.

Paul Tudor Jones made some big bets on tech in Q3. He picked up over 93K shares of Apple (AAPL), 100K shares of Facebook (FB), 150K shares of Groupon (GRPN), and nearly 250K shares of Zynga (ZNGA). The Groupon and Zynga positions can't be faring well, assuming Tudor Jones held on. He also bailed out of a 293K-share position in Virgin Media (VMED). (13F)

It's a split decision from analysts on Virgin Media (VMED -2.9%) as Goldman Sachs yanks the stock off of its Conviction Buy list and takes its rating down to Neutral, while Canaccord Genuity maintains a Buy and increases EPS estimates. The verdict on VMED seems destined to boil down to whether or not the company will fend off competition with its highly-anticipated YouView service in the U.K.

Virgin Mobile (VMED +0.1%) will begin offering the iPhone (AAPL) to its prepaid subscribers as soon as July 1, sources tell the WSJ. Virgin relies on Sprint's (S) network, and its purchases could help the latter make good on its $15.5B, 4-year iPhone purchase commitment without getting saddled with millions of unsold iPhones. Fellow prepaid carrier Leap Wireless (LEAP) recently struck an iPhone deal of its own.

Philippe Laffont pitches Virgin Media (VMED) at the Ira Sohn conference, suggesting it's in a small universe of companies that can buy back shares consistently over the next 5 years. In fact, the company could repurchase all of its stock with free cash flow over the next 5-9 years. "Imagine what that last share will be worth." Stock pops, +2.4%.
