Vornado (VNO), one of the biggest U.S. REITs, is looking to raise $1B from private investors to invest in distressed properties, primarily in New York and Washington. Choosing to raise money for the deal, as opposed to funding it internally, could irk its shareholders.

Office space availability still rose to 13.4% from 12% in Q1, but the increase slowed significantly in the latter half of the quarter. Good news for landlords such as SL Green Realty (SLG), Vornado (VNO), Boston Properties (BXP) and Brookfield Properties (BPO).
