- Friday, February 8, 12:34 PM Vringo (VRNG +1.6%) edges higher after Mark Cuban discloses he has increased his stake in the IP holder to 1.13M shares (1.41%) from a prior 1.03M. Interestingly, the disclosure comes just a week after Cuban took fresh aim at the U.S. patent system in a TechCrunch interview, and declared "there is no place for software patents." (software patent hearing) 2 Comments [Tech]
- Thursday, January 31, 9:55 AM Vringo (VRNG +3.8%) has added Microsoft (MSFT) to its list of lawsuit targets, alleging the software giant is infringing the two search-related patents (no doubt through Bing) that were asserted against Google and others in a recent Virginia trial. A suit has been filed in the Southern District of New York; Vringo is seeking "past and future compensatory damages." (PR) 10 Comments [Tech]

Ravicher makes note of a line in a Dec. 21 Google legal filing in which it asks the court presiding over its battle with Vringo to postpone a ruling on the imposition of royalties so as to "give the parties an opportunity to negotiate post-judgment royalties." This leads Ravicher, a patent attorney, to think Google has conceded Vringo deserves royalties on AdWords sales. He also expects Google's request for a postponement to be denied. 6 Comments [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]

Yesterday, Vringo announced its German suit against ZTE is moving forward. (original U.K. suit) Comment! [Tech, On the Move]
- Wednesday, November 21, 2012, 3:10 PM Vringo (VRNG +5.3%) has jumped after the U.S. federal court overseeing its patent suit against Google, AOL, and others confirmed the jury's infringement verdict and its recommended 3.5% royalty on U.S. AdWords revenue. Shares had calmed down in recent days after seeing tremendous volatility during the trial. 12 Comments [Tech, On the Move]

Losers: DVAX -48%. SINA -7%. Comment! [On the Move] - Thursday, November 15, 2012, 5:00 PM Vringo (VRNG) followed up its Q3 report by announcing it's suing ZTE in Germany over the alleged infringement of a standards-essential patent. Vringo sued ZTE in the U.K. last month, but as Apple and Microsoft can vouch, Germany is seen as friendly terrain for IP litigants. Comment! [Tech]
- Thursday, November 15, 2012, 10:01 AM Vringo (VRNG -3.5%) is down a bit after delivering its Q3 report yesterday afternoon. Revenue amounted to $266K and net loss totaled $3.1M, or $0.06/share. Vringo noted it had over $60M in cash as of Nov. 14, thanks to its recent stock offering. The IP holder noted on its earnings call its Vringo Labs subsidiary came up with 9 "provisional patents" during the quarter, one of which covers wireless energy. (PR) Comment! - Wednesday, November 7, 2012, 12:52 PM Vringo (VRNG -11.5%) is seeing another down day in response to the Google verdict (I, II) - shares are now down 25% since yesterday's trading halt ended. Maxim joins others in estimating the jury's recommended royalty rate could lead to $500M in payments to Vringo until April 2016, but also cautions a Google appeal could take 12-15 months to play out, and that the company might try to create a workaround. 7 Comments [Tech, On the Move, Quick Ideas]
- Tuesday, November 6, 2012, 5:26 PM Vringo (VRNG -9.9%) closed with losses as investors digested the Google verdict. Equity Brief reports "sources in the Virginia courtroom" (no details on which faction, if any, they support) believe the jury's recommended 3.5% royalty rate would translate into payments of $125M/year until 2016 if upheld. (earlier: I, II, III). 8 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, November 6, 2012, 2:50 PM Vringo (VRNG -1%) has resumed trading following its legal win (I, II) against Google, which featured a smaller damage award than some were hoping for. Shares are volatile once again, spiking above and below breakeven. In a PR detailing the verdict, Vringo notes prior art arguments were rejected, and that a "running royalty" of 3.5% on Google AdWords revenue (subject to a judge's review) has been recommended. 8 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
- Tuesday, November 6, 2012, 2:10 PM More on Vringo-Google: Of the $30M awarded to Vringo (VRNG), Google (GOOG) is ordered to pay $15.9M, AOL $7.9M, and InterActiveCorp $6.6M. Target and Gannett owe pocket change. Though the jury has ruled Google owes Vringo royalties, the final decision on royalty rates rests with the judge. Vringo was originally seeking nearly $500M in damages. Shares still halted. 6 Comments [Tech]
- Tuesday, November 6, 2012, 1:50 PM Vringo (VRNG) has won its patent suit against Google (GOOG). The company has been awarded $30M in damages and a royalty on Google search ad revenue through 2016, when Vringo's patent expires - some reports indicate the royalty rate is 3.5%. Google will almost certainly appeal. Vringo shares remain halted. 29 Comments [Tech, On the Move]
