- Tuesday, May 21, 4:34 AM Vodafone (VOD): FQ4 organic service revenue -4.2% (in line, but worst quarterly drop on record): -12.8% in Italy and -11.5% in Spain. Impairment charge of £1.8B in Italy, bringing total impairments for Spain and Italy to £7.7B for the full year during which sales were down 4.2%, to £44.4B and core earnings were off 3.1% to £13.3B. - Wednesday, April 24, 10:44 AM AT&T (T -5.4%) gets slammed as 3 downgrades arrive in response to its Q1 revenue miss, the result of soft wireless subscriber adds and declining wireline revenue. There might also be concerns about whether lowering 2014/2015 capex targets (to fuel more buybacks?) is a bright idea in light of flagging growth. AT&T's 296K Q1 postpaid net adds (boosted by tablets) and 184K prepaid net losses are easily worse than Verizon's respective net adds of 677K and 43K. Service revenue rose 8.6% Y/Y, while equipment sales fell 1.4% (evidence of Verizon's efforts to lower subsidies). Retail postpaid net adds rose by 677K, and total retail net adds by 720K. Wireless operating income margin rose 430 bps Y/Y to 32.9%. Retail postpaid churn rose 6 bps Q/Q and 5 bps Y/Y to 1.01%. Big Red had previously disclosed it activated 9.8M smartphones in the quarter. CFO Fran Shammo says about half of the iPhone sales involved the iPhone 5 - that remark comes as UBS points to survey data indicating a mix shift towards older and lower-capacity iPhone models. Verizon's Y/Y growth rate is easily above that of AT&T (T - previous), which is more iPhone-dependent, but its Q/Q rate is slower. - Monday, January 7, 4:17 PM More on Verizon: Continuing his talk at a Citi conference, CEO Lowell McAdam claims Verizon Wireless had 2.1M net subscriber adds in Q4; that's well above the 1.5M added a year ago, and the highest quarterly total in Verizon's (VZ +0.9%) history. However, he also said Verizon is "planning on 2013 being relatively flat," and forecast $9B-$10B in Q4 charges - $7B of that figure stems from pension liabilities, $1.5B from restructuring efforts, and $1B from Hurricane Sandy. Also, total wireless net adds fell to 678K from Q2's 1.3M, and postpaid net adds fell to 151K from 320K. Colaolli: Switch off NFC, Wifi and locaction if you dont need them. Also using black theme instead of white will help
