    Warner Music (WMG) is expected to review second-round bids this week, a source says. Up to 10 investors have made offers ranging from $2.8B to just over $3B on an enterprise-value basis. The potential buyers for all or part of Warner include Live Nation (LYV) and Sony (SNE).

    Warner Music (WMG +10.8%) shares jump after CNBC reports that billionaire investor Ron Burkle is bidding more than $3B for the company. Warner has been seeking bids for weeks, with BMG and Live Nation (LYV) among those reportedly showing interest (I, II); final bids are due today.

    Live Nation (LYV) has reportedly made a bid of unknown size for Warner Music Group's (WMG) recorded-music operation. However, sources say Warner has already received other bids to buy the company in its entirety rather than as individual business units.

    Now in a self-proclaimed "position to benefit from market consolidation," Bertelsmann says it is ready to deal and is particularly interested in the publishing units of Warner Music (WMG +12.6%), which is up for auction, or EMI, which Citibank (C) is expected to soon offer for sale. Warner is seeking potential buyers even as it looks to bid for EMI.

    BMG has reportedly made three different bids for various assets owned by Warner Music Group (WMG +1.3%), including a publishing business it values at $1.4B-1.5B, and for the whole company (about $2.8B). Goldman Sachs (GS) is helping WMG sell the assets as WMG looks to buy EMI Group from Citigroup (C).

    Warner Music (WMG -2%) has asked for preliminary bids this week for its music publishing company or for the entire group, with billionaire shareholder Len Blavatnik expected to throw his hat into the ring, FT reports. Separately, the group has also been working a potential acquisition of rival EMI.

    Warner Music Group (WMG +8.2%) is rushing to sell itself before EMI Group comes up for auction, and has attracted more than 20 potential bidders, NY Post reports. Citigroup (C), which took over EMI, plans to put it up for sale shortly, the report says. Just a week after losing control of EMI, Guy Hands says he’d like to buy it back.

    A French court fines Warner Music's (WMG) Edgar Bronfman $6.7M on criminal charges related to his role as a senior executive at Vivendi (VIVDY.PK), and hands former Vivendi CEO Jean-Marie Messier a three-year suspended sentence for misleading investors.

    Rumors that Warner Music Group (WMG) hired Goldman Sachs (GS) to explore a sale of all or part of the company sent shares +11.65% in AH trading. A partial sale could leave Warner with less of a buffer but might facilitate a purchase of EMI Group.

    Warner Music (WMG) is reportedly considering a $750M bid for EMI's recorded music division, and could make an offer within weeks. P-E firm Terra Firma, which owns EMI, has said it's not interested in a sale, but is facing increasing pressure from lender Citigroup (C). (earlier: I, II)

    EMI Group has reportedly held early-stage talks with rival record labels, including Warner Music Group (WMG) and Sony Music (SNE), to license its music in North America. A five-year licensing deal could bring in up to £100M ($150M) per year, and EMI desperately needs some cash to avoid being taken over by lender Citigroup (C). (previously)

    Warner Music Group (WMG) and KKR are reportedly in early-stage talks about a breakup bid for EMI. If EMI can't come up with £120M ($182M) by June 14, it could be taken over by lender Citigroup, which sources say would be quick to put EMI up for sale.

    Sources say Warner Music Group (WMG) and YouTube (GOOG) are close to settling their licensing dispute. The proposal would give Warner the right to sell ads that run next to its videos and receive the bulk of the revenue, a formula Google has used to resolve a number of recent disputes with content owners looking for greater monetization.
