Wal-Mart's Latest Beat-and-Raise: Yawn [view article]
Costco sells cheaper gas at their stores, maybe shop there for what you don't get at Walmart ReplyETF Update: Utilities, Retail, Biotech and Agriculture [view article]
I appreciate this kind of reporting. Thank you. ReplyWal-Mart's Latest Beat-and-Raise: Yawn [view article]
Chel: You stole my comment and have more right to it since you live it.Wal-marts were constructed on the outskirts cause that's where sufficient cheap land was.
Sure they're cheap and you save but their "Vacation Ad" on the savings does not show a gas gauge with full=$90, 1/2=$45 etc.
But when people are parking the car and walking to the local Pizza store rather than pay the delivery fuel sur-charge, they'll wise up.
If you pass one to or from work OK, If you car pool it 1X a week OK.
But a casual 10mi drive to Wal-mart is over. Reply

Wal-Mart's Latest Beat-and-Raise: Yawn [view article]
I live in one of those areas where you drive 17 or 15 miles to the "big" city where Wal-Mart located. Until gas hit $4.00 a gallon, it still made sense to make the drive and enjoy the cheaper prices. Now, it doesn't. It makes sense to order off the Internet.....have it delivered to the local hardware store. And, when I shop at Wal-Mart, it doesn't have the same crowds. How much of Wal-Mart still consists of these rural "magnets"? While big cities won't be affected by the gas prices as much, it would seem these rural magnets might be.
Any ideas? Reply

The US housing sector will remain depressed for the next 10 years, not the next 10 months. ReplyOptions Trader: Thursday Outlook [view article]

Could not agree more. Too small sample size to be statistically representative. ReplyOptions Trader: Thursday Outlook [view article]
Actually Phil I was a member on your site for 4 months - 3 months in addition to the one month you found. Maybe if you check for my email address or the paypal account that I used to pay for the subscription you could see that I was a member from 9/7 thru 12/7.I know the market was not producing the best returns during that time but I can surely tell you that your site boasted many 100% gains that I was not a part of. This was because my $30,000 wasn't enough to take all of your trades.
Also in response to your "solution" for the person holding BAC calls I would have to say that your rolling down strategy could cause ADDITIONAL LOSSES if BAC goes up and they can't buy back the calls they sell for less or let the calls expire worthless. I have been burned like this many times.
I think your articles are humorous and I agree with most of your commentary but I must tell you and everyone reading this board that I lost $30,000 using your advice. Its not as easy as Phil's website marketing makes it out to be. In fact it's pretty hard to even catch all of Phil's trades - much harder to catch your exits and rolls.
I did have better luck with wangshappytrading.com and zmansenergybrain.com. These sites are more tuned in to my active trading, but not full time trader position now.

Starbucks Tells Walmart:: "Here, You Take Them." [view article]
I have faith in the company. I have worked the gamit of low-level college jobs in my life. Starbucks is by far the best enviroment I have ever been exposed to in the workforce. With that said, I believe that the company will prevail and exceed expectations for two reasons:
1) THEY HAVE A SUPERIOR PRODUCT!
and 2) Them business development plan of Starbucks is its strength. This slight detour was due soley to a maverick CEO's direction (or lack thereof) when Schultz stepped down. Now he's back and putting the stop to the digression of company standards that Jim Donald created.
P.S. I am an employee of SBUX and do see a shit ton of pretentious, pseudo-intellectuals. But, I also see them everywhere else. Their taste in coffee almost makes up for their lack of integrity.

No I'm not happy, are you? The market sure isn't and oil going up was our signal to go negative and cover longs yesterday. Am I not allowed to have a market premise on which we take action now?Tradeflow, I see you were a member from 11/30/07 - 12/29/07 on my site and from 9/7-12/7 on Wangs. I can't speak for Andy but obviously Dec was a rough month with the Dow dropping 500 points but I'm very curious as to what it was that you lost $30,000 on in one month. Reply
Confident in Wal-Mart - Contrary to Market Pessimism [view article]
The Chinese yuan has gone up 20% and the US dollar ain't worth but $0.12 which makes all tat China items cost more for the American consumer.quote*In China, as elsewhere, we follow the Wal-Mart tradition of building our business one store and one customer at a time. We strive to provide our customers with friendly service and a wide selection of quality products at Every Day Low Prices. With each Wal-Mart store we bring advanced retail know-how to the local market. By fostering a healthy, competitive environment, we hope to constantly improve our business operations and customer service in order to contribute to the prosperity of the local economy.
Wal-Mart firmly believes in local procurement. We recognize that by purchasing quality products, we can generate more job opportunities, support local manufacturing and boost economic development. Over 95% of the merchandise in our stores in China is sourced locally. We have established partnerships with nearly 20,000 suppliers in China. At Wal-Mart, we always work with our suppliers to grow together. In August 2007, Wal-Mart once again secured the top spot of the 2007 Supplier Satisfaction Survey conducted by Business Information of Shanghai. Additionally, Wal-Mart directly exports about US$9 billion from China every year. The export volume by third party suppliers is also estimated to be over US$9 billion.*end quote!
Now! if there be 182 country's making items for the world to buy and they have only 5% of the pie in China...duh! This company makes the nice people of China support their currency(yuan) by keeping it in their country working for the people there.... but with the "yuan" going up in value and the US dollar going down...all the foreign items that the American consumer buys thinking it is cheap has went up in price. People...its all about the currency and to keep a currency strong you got to keep it floating around the country you live in so it can work for you. For the past 12 years all them US dollars are being shipped overseas to a foreign bank and with the American worker not making anything for the foreigner to buy the "we the people" have to turn to the "second" largest employer in America(Uncle Sam) to sell "we the people" debt in order to get all them dollars back! 50 years ago a foreigner would had given their left nut for a US dollar or a Hershey's chocolate bar and today the same foreigner has got Uncle Sam and the American consumer by both all the while Hershey is moving the chocolate factory to Mexico. Wakeup! America and think "MADE IN AMERICA" and put the word Washington back in D. C.....Washington had been reelected unanimously in 1792. His decision not to seek a third term established a tradition that is now embedded in the 22d Amendment of the Constitution. Read his Farewell Address of Sept. 17, 1796 and think American made for a change.
Maybe you need to red...oops! read what the Governor of Tennessee did to your word "Confident." Very smart person! Reply

Fanny and Freddy with 200 over compensated bureaucrats as "over_sight" watch dogs ran up 10 trillion eigh hundred billion in debt for the dumb people in this country to pay off. Why do we think our government can solve our problems when their own house is in shambles? Anybody with a brain has seen this coming. Reply
