Just What the Doctor Ordered: Comparing the Pharma ETFs [view article]
Pharmaceuticals are a great call right now. Anyone holding/thinking about holding PFE on it's own outside of the ETFs?PFE has a flawless 41-year history of dividend growth and stands to benefit big, along with the entire drug industry as Medicare Part D kicks in over the next few years.
Here's an article by PFE supporter if you're interested in the dividend and management.

Anyone else have any good information about PFE before I jump in? Reply

Is Elan in Double Trouble? [view article]
leh, that is a pretty strong comment. Nazis? No wonder you do not identify yourself. I have missed the stories where Elan has been shown to have murdered, tortured, imprisoned, and forced reporters to work as slave laborers. The worst I have heard is that Elan did not permit some reporters (I only know of one) and some analysts to have to listen to the webcast of the May 7 presentations in Boston instead of being able to sit in the audience, and that Elan wanted to be able to listen (not attend) to a live analyst conference call.As for being "very leery" of the Bap/ELN/WYE story, and the companies' chances of getting Bap to market soon, that is your preogative. It is prudent to be a questioning investor. Perhaps you can identify some other companies that are further ahead of Elan and Wyeth in finding a disease modifying treatment for AD? I for one, have spent ten years getting to understand Elan and its science, and while the company has had some very tough times, I have averaged down after additional due diligence, and have a great deal of confidence that the value of Tysabri, Elan's AD pipeline (much more than just Bap, the leading candidate), Elan's Parkinson's pipeline and EDT are not yet nearly reflected in the current share price.
This is a classic battle between the longs and the shorts. We shall see who prevails in the end.
Good luck with your investments. Reply
Is Elan in Double Trouble? [view article]
Well, obviously, analysts frequently put in sell ratings so they can manipulate the price and buy more themselves. Happens often in Tech-- AAPL, etc. But, personally, I had some Elan I bought at $5.22 and I took the run up as an opportunity to "take the money and run". Plenty CAN go wrong with any drug trial, and in particular any trial involving such a poorly understood disease as Alzheinmer's ReplyIs Elan in Double Trouble? [view article]
Mike,Please keep it coming re any info you can uncover on ELN and Bap. I was optimistic way back in March when Barrons ran that very positive piece on Bap/ELN/WYE, but almost everything I've read since makes me very leery of this story, along with ELN and WYE's chances of getting this to market soon. ELN in particular has acted like Nazis towards reporters looking to dig a little deeper here. I smell a rat, and think these two analysts are correct in advising extreme caution here, especially with the FDA's ever-tightening standards. Reply
Will Wal-Mart Heat Up Chile? Fast Money (6/17/08) [view article]
after the nice people of Chile red...oops! read this....quote***In China, as elsewhere, we follow the Wal-Mart tradition of building our business one store and one customer at a time. Always enjoy reading these. Thank you.Quick question: could one of the "puzzling" long positions that you mentioned just be short-covering? In other words, if he was heavily short the bond insurers and then covered some of his position, we would only see the long.
Thanks again Reply

investors are dumping pfizer's shares whether the news is good or bad, i think they are over doing it ReplyPfizer Makes a Deal, Wyeth and Elan Release Alzheimer's Drug Results [view article]
PFE going up a nickel is like Krakatoa erupting. This stock, hence company, has only managed to perfect achieving the well funded attainment of daily, weekly, yearly, decade long lows. Are they going for a Guinness world record? Saving some dying patent for another year no longer qualifies as successful business management. IMHO Replye_Loves_Visa

Mike, I don't know if you read these comments but I want to thank you for the great work you do.You also made me some money this year on ISIS. You popped up on CNBC back in April and mentioned that some company was investing in ISIS at $25 a share. You were emphatic that ISIS was going up huge that day on the news.
I jumped on the phone 1 second after you said that and picked up some ISIS. I sold ISIS 2 hours later and made some substancial bank.
I'm not rich or some big time trader. You helped me out a lot.
Once again, thanks for that and all the other good work you do. Reply
Elan, Wyeth: Response to Skeptics on Alzheimer's Data [view article]
So far,- Elan and Wyeth did NOT reveal Ph II clinical data. Note PhII trials have too few patients to judge. Since, supposedly, the results were positive just for 40%-patients taking the drug subgroup, it means that less than 50 patients were in this subgroup.
- Phase III trial results are 2-3 years away
- Alzheimer’s Disease parameters are very difficult to measure/compare
Consequently, let us be patient before we see the data and results Reply
Elan, Wyeth: Response to Skeptics on Alzheimer's Data [view article]
I think this is a scam. Just my 2 cents. Study was very small, with 40% of that group used as a control group and statistically showed benefit. What was the point of releasing news, which was leaked prior to public disclosure, and we have presentation in July? I think this pure and simple market manipulation by KM.
Will see where ELN after presentation Reply
