New State Street ETF Tracks Emerging Market Smallcaps
Being cap weighted kind of negates the exposure to small cap stocks doesn't it. You will get very little exposure to the smallest cap stocks in the index, which could be the most explosive.

The Home Start Numbers Are Not a Positive
The median price tends to be skewed by the fact that it is very difficult for anyone to get a jumbo mortgage i.e. Toll Brothers homes vs. hot selling low price homes.

I read a market report on the Sacramento region concerning April sales (I am familiar with the area) and homes for sale under $250k, especially foreclosures are getting multiple offers and selling in hours while there is a 20 month supply of homes over $580k. Sales in the region grew 28% in April from March, mostly in the lower price region, pulling the median price down.

Note: per square foot pricing in Sacramento has fallen 25% since 2006, so real prices are down also. Just do not mix apples and oranges.

World Market for Biofuels Expected to Double
What, no comments from the no food for fuel crowd? Good info, thanks for passing it along without the price tag. Many are missing the demand side of renewables. Every ethanol plant is easily selling every gallon they produce. New blended products save gas wholesalers money and improve their margins. VSE had to buy 40 million gallons last quarter to resell to their customers.

Ethanol Will Become a Fad Without Government Intervention
Ethanol is the only blending source for cities that need to meet clean air requirements. There is much focus on ethanol as an alt. fuel, but few realize it is necessary to meet EPA clean air requirements for many areas.

      Housing Data: Crybabies and Deceivers
Applause for the comment above! The U.S. has a natural growth rate for new housing as the population grows. (I read California has 400,000 new families per year) The over building of 2002-2006 will get absorbed and more "normal" market conditions will return.

I am starting to think the many commenters who seem to gloat in further negative real estate numbers have never owned a home and will probably never be in the position to. I have not seen a better buyer's market in 30 years.

Calling It Quits on Gold, Platinum - It's Time to Go Financials!
Nice article with specific thoughts on the direction of several sectors. I tend to agree the party is over for precious metals for a while. With so much negative sentiment against financials, the contrarian play makes huge sense.

I am sure all the gold bugs are happy with their gold going from $1000+ to about $860 while financials and homebuilders have gained 30% to 50%. At least they are passionate about losing their money!

      Ethanol Producers Will Surprise Many
I appreciate all of the comments here. I tend to be an optimist about the future and we will work something out. In the 1890's they were blogging how more horse feed would get to the cities and what to to with all of the horse crap and people would just have to do with fewer and smaller horses! I take my shot looking at near term changes considering infrastructure, costs and public attitude. I see a slow conversion to a higher proportion of petroleum/biofuel blends and hybrid vehicles. Larger fleet like bus and garbage trucks (lots of driving in a small area) will put in their own infrastructures for CNG, LNG and possible H. Many of these types of fleets are already doing this. It has been illegal to put a diesel garbage truck into service in So Cal for years.

Thanks I was uncertain if the split started at the first dollar once the tier was hit or the tiers were followed with the splits. The wording from the partnership agreement is pretty vague (to me). Also, there are tier splits starting at $0.605 that max out at the 50% above $1.04, so if that is the case the numbers will fall in between somewhere. In any case the TNH shareholders are going to get a surprise if they are not reading here or my blog.
