    Thought BCON, Beacon Power, might be one of your picks. Any opinion? I have seen their flywheels work and the concept and execution is excellent. If that can be translated into orders then their business model will be very profitable.

    My long shot bet is on BCON, Beacon Power.

    New Technology, low carbon footprint, saves utilities money, makes money for company. I have been to the company, see their system work and am optimistic about their efforts.

    Methinks you should add BCON (Beacon Power) as a potential spec. for power management on the new grid. It's near zero carbon footprint and 20 year or more lifespan before maintenance should make it a winner. I used to call it a long shot but success is on the horizon.

    And Tom, does BCON have a role in all this? And, if so, what might it be? I believe it has certain advantages, (low carbon footprint, long life, fast resonse time), over other grid regulation systems. They are talking about wind and solar integration systems in their annual report. Any thoughts on flywheel tech?

    You forgot Beacon Power (BCON) flywheel based power management. No need to fire up those expensive, carbon rich fossil plants when a flywheel system can kick in in a second and even out grid demand.

    I am interested in Beacon Power flywheels as part of the smart grid. They have virtually no carbon footprint and serve to regulate power flow without having to fire up fossil fuel plants.
