  • The Justice Department reportedly is probing Chesapeake (CHK) and Encana (ECA) for possible collusion after a Reuters investigation showed top brass at the two rivals plotted to avoid bidding against each other in Michigan land deals. The state's AG office and Department of Natural Resources also are believed to be looking into the allegations.

"If they played games in Michigan, did they engage in the same behavior elsewhere?"

Did CHK leave an "e-mail" trail for those "games?"
    Probably.
    Did Mr. Chesapeake Know?
    YES...
    Will He be Indicted?

Mr. Chesapeake has hired at least TWO high-powered Attorneys within the past week.
    Does He need them?

    Why?

  • Will New Leadership Save Chesapeake? [View article]
IMOpine... Until CHK gets called out about double dipping their "revenues" and correcting their balance sheet... NO ONE can help. Except maybe the IRS...
Mr. McClendon and Mr. McClendon alone has called out all this Federal, State, and Local scrutiny. He alone can't play by the rules... He believes himself to be above the rules... Now the Rule Makers will have their say.
Like kids playing a "board" game... There is always one...when he doesn't get his way...makes sure the "board" game gets knocked over...so NO ONE can "play."
    Meet Mr. Aubrey McClendon...

  • Chesapeake Energy: Production Growth And Cash Flow Growth Ahead [View article]
    Fracjob...
CHK stiffed them with bank "drafts" that CHK did NOT HONOR.
Most lessors weren't "savy" enough to know NOT to take a "draft."
They deposited their CHK "drafts" thinking these "drafts" operated like banking checks do. They DON'T.
However...CHESAPEAKE KNEW!!! When CHK did not honor their drafts...No Money. No Lease. No deal. Even though Lessors had signed leases.
CHK's Land Leasing Tactics Suck just Like Their Senior Management Does.
Maybe CHK's SEC and the "Anit-Trust" Lawsuits sitting around the corner will make more sense to you when you read them.

  • Depressed shares of Chesapeake Energy (CHK -4.2%) are worth more than $50 apiece and will eventually top $100, the head of top CHK shareholder Southeastern Asset Management says, adding that the company is on track to sell assets and create a "pristine" balance sheet.  [View news story]
Agree 100% with all the above comments and SA commentators...
That wouldn't happen again in a million years. LOL

  • Chesapeake (CHK) names Archie Dunham, former ConocoPhillips chairman and CEO, as its new independent non-executive chairman. The board also appoints four other new independent directors, three proposed by Southeastern Asset Management and one by Carl Icahn. Aubrey McClendon is no longer chairman but remains a director and will continue as CHK's CEO and President.  [View news story]
IMO...This is the 1st step to getting AM "weaned," before he sucked CHK dry...

    More "steps" will come...

  • Chesapeake (CHK) agrees to let more than 4,400 New York landowners renegotiate old gas leases for more favorable financial and environmental terms, the state's AG says. CHK had tried to extend the leases in 2009, claiming the state's de facto moratorium on shale gas development constituted an uncontrollable event that allowed for a lease extension.  [View news story]

  • Chesapeake Energy's Candidates For The Board Of Directors Do Not Warrant Shareholder Support [View article]
If you don't read gohaynesvilleshale.com... You are missing many aspects of CHK's McClendon and BOD stealth at stealing stakeholder value...
For February 2012...Haynesville Shale mineral owners who are in CHK wells, leased and unleased, found approx. 50% of their revenue checks where eaten up by CHK "charges." Normally these CHK "charges" run around 16-25 percent... For February 2012, they ran around 50%. And this doesn't take into consideration that CHK pays their lessors and unleased mineral owners in the Haynesville Shale anywhere from $.25 to $1 less per mcf than any other nat gas Producer in the HS...Production coming out of the same wells...same fields...same production zones...same month's production...same cost environment...same sales environment... ????
CHK gives a whole new meaning to "rigged."
Agree with All The Above... Get Them Out Now!

    steve miller70,
FYI... CHK can't "shut the valves on every gas well..." Shutting in the horizontal wells would destroy their EURs... Thereby destroying CHK's EURs on same.

"Map" Update: CHK has appealed the Court ruling. LOL
Aubrey probably doesn't have the $$$ to buy them back. Maybe the CHK BOD can "loan" him some more Company Money to buy back the maps. What's a few Million More $$$$$ over the $1 Billion plus he's already been "loaned," off the books!
    What idiots!
