  • NY Times examines Summers' bid for Fed chairmanship [View news story]
A pick of Summers would be so blatantly stupid that even a simple person as I would vomit. Could POTUS be so less in touch with reality as to be so blinded by cronyism? Summers and crew almost put us over the edge....and he gets another chance? That is so wrong on so many levels.

We have stopped digging our hole even deeper. Slowly filling the hole back up is the job of a Yellen....a steady hand is what's needed now.

I am a fan of the President. He's a good man. But I also lived in the home of Teddy Roosevelt's daughter, Ethel Roosevelt Derby. There I learned about things like honor, and integrity. Those values are sorely missing in today's government.

Mr. President, to name Summers to the Fed chair would be a slap in all our faces.

You need advice? Ask Volcker what to do. You already did, and then didn't take his advice? Shame on you. Sometimes the right answer is right in front of your nose....but you have to look through the cigar smoke.....

One PO'd grandparent that doesn't want to see his grandkids future torpedoed any further....

    Interesting article. Thank you.

I see where the war in Iraq cost us $800 billion, not to mention many lives. And that money could have been spent right here at home on our own infrastruture, not costing one life. Sombody made a poor choice.

  • "We can't just drill our way to lower gas prices when we consume 20% of the world's oil," President Obama says during his weekly address. Obama took the opportunity to advocate for his "all of the above" strategy, that relies less on foreign fossil fuels, and more on: "solar, wind, natural gas, biofuels, and more."  [View news story]
The American political system is broken, and the only way we 99% have to fix it is by using the broken American political system. Basically, we're screwed.

Until something major happens in this country to change that, the .01% will continue to rule. And we see the truth of that in our everyday lives...including here on SA. Many people slinging mud...very few actually looking for calm, reasonable, common sense answers.

    I have a gun. (ok, it's older than me, a 1932 Savage 99K in .308)

So....why would I need another one?

    http://bit.ly/VnjBnC

Both Australia and Switzerland are handling guns better than we are.
But we are Americans....and we rule!

    Buy more guns! Yeah....right.....

The gun manufacturers, other than for military and police, should go out of business. Until they do, we should buy their stock, and their guns, and forget those kids? Sorry, grandfather here. We have to change....or we will have no future. It's not just us....it's about the Universe.

Put your money in water. That we DO need.

  • Dramatic Decoupling Of U.S. Stocks From Global Equities To End [View article]
Actually, I have been reading James for over a year now, and I can't think of one thing he has said that doesn't make good sense. Yet the market refuses to go down.

I am beginning to think that there are powers that be, like the Wizard of Oz, that are behind a screen, pulling and pushing levers to create a fiat world...where a few benefit on the backs of others.

    Just being neurotic....right?

Something is not working right James. And when even the most simple of us begin to see the light...it begs the question...how do WE get our financial lives back?

    Cheers,
    Rialto

  • Not only is further stimulus off the table, but the Fed is likely to emerge from next week's policy meeting with a slightly more upbeat view of the economy, reports Jon Hilsenrath. The fast decline in unemployment has taken Fed officials by surprise, and it could mean more underlying strength in the economy than other data would indicate.  [View news story]
"fast decline"? In the 'real' unemployment?

I think these guys may be in the market for a bridge. In Brooklyn.

Ok, maybe don't take advice....but certainly learn who here on SA is not full of BS. Or themselves. The longer one is here, the more one can glean from fellow SA members. But do not just stay here on the article section. Venture over to the Stocktalks section to find actionable trades. You WILL have to separate the wheat from the chaff....but it's worth it. Articles are great for the macro....but Stocktalks are for real traders.

    Broaden your horizons...and it's free.

  • Our Take On 'Why I Am Leaving Goldman' [View article]
The truly scary part is that our government is run by GS alums, and their ilk. Read "Confidence Men" by Ron Suskind.

We Americans have a broken political system, and it's the GS's of this world that broke it. Republicans are all about making the rich richer, and Democrats look the other way and let policy 'drift', afraid to lose contributors. (like GS) When POTUS had the bankers before him.....he did nothing. And the bankers knew they would have no fear of him... ever again.

Only a man like Volker could have stood up to them, and POTUS did not use him. Opportunity lost.

IMO, Mr. Smith was/is courageous. But there is zero integrity in banking/government left in America. So...nothing will change.

And we can't change the broken political system in the US, because the only thing we have to work with....is a broken political system. The .01% win again.

    PO'd,

The government, of the Rich and for the Rich, must support the 1% by any means. Even lying. It's in their code.

Until the sheep wise up....it will remain the same.

BTW, wish the good Doctor, Ron Paul, had better 'bedside' manner. Some of his ideas are good...but he leaves too many things unanswered. I don't get the sense he's one of the "Elite", just a real American. IMO

  • LTRO: Savior Or Distraction? [View article]
    Tom, I agree with you.

The stock markets have gone up for over two months now with no correction below the 10 day sma's of each index. It smacks of manipulation. One stock, AAPL, has been the new bellwether for the whole market it seems.

LTRO, QE, you name it......we are being lead down a path of destruction. The retail investor seemingly has no chance against the computers. Pick a stock, any stock. It will by and large follow the pack.

Somewhere is a voice of reason. An 'Anti-Computer'. We need that voice.
