  • Sirius XM Radio (NASDAQ:SIRI) Listeners Want BBC Radio 1 Back On The Satellites [View instapost]
I only subscribed to Sirius to get a taste of home from BBC Radio 1. Cancelled as soon as I discovered that the channel had been dropped (on the return from vacation - horrible shock)! The situation was aggravated by the absolutely horrendous 'customer service' from Sirius XM and the insulting way in which paying subscribers were then belittled and fobbed off.
Asking us to pay for streaming that we can already access for free on our computers is just plain daft.
None of the other stations offered are anything like Radio 1 and until it comes back I won't be subscribing. When the free trial finishes on the other car, that'll go too.
Come on Sirius, you made a huge mistake, you need to correct it - and that black hole that you use as your call center needs sorting out too...

Like many on this site, I paid for Sirius XM (for the last four years) only to get BBC Radio 1. When, after returning from vacation, I switched on the radio and was greeted with the painful noise that is Studio 54 I panicked a bit - then thought they must have changed the channel setting again - as they did last year.
After a thorough search through the channels, and with rising agitation I got home to call the black hole that is Sirius XM's Philippines Call Center and after 35 minutes and four representatives I finally managed to discover that R1 had been dropped a s a station, I immediately cancelled my subscription. Once our other cars free trial finishes, that will be cancelled too - we only kept it so I could could listen to R1.

Nothing else that Sirius XM offers can replace the quality and diversity offered by BBR Radio 1. I'm obviously biased, having listened since childhood, and now as an expat in CA, cherished the contact with Blighty and the peeps back home. I would pay just for Radio 1, not requiring any other channels, but I would begrudge even that at the moment, to the morons at Sirius who had been so very inept in their responses, with thoughtless customer care and a thorough lack of understanding of what the channels they broadcast actually offer to the listeners.

They have just insulted our intelligence saying that the same music can be heard on their other channels - it's simply not the case. And then expecting people to pay for what is a free service from the BBC online...who do they think we are?

I am bereft, car journeys are quite painful now with out Chris, Comedy Dave, Fearne and Scott. Just hoping that the loyal listeners of Radio 1 keep up the pressure and Sirius suddenly gets some sense and finds a way to reinstate it to our radios.
