Having started my working life as a system programmer at Digital on DEC PDP-8, PDP-11 and VAX computers, I moved into running large Enterprise Software and Internet Businesses. During the Internet bubble, my boss asked me to evaluate large potential (VC funded) acquisitions, almost all of which looked to me like string and Sellotape jobs (Enterprise scale in Visual Basic anyone?). In latter years, I've been Director of a Software Business that grew £80-£250m in two years, and ran operations at a UK reseller that grew its UK market share with VMware from 7-21% during my tenure. I use and love my iPhone 5, iPad, Nexus 7 and MacBook Air. I'm an Advocate of Open Source Software, recently passing Accreditations on 10gen MongoDB for (Python) Developers and MongoDB for DBAs, both with distinction. I also have recent certifications on Red Hat Linux (Platform, Middleware, Virtualisation and Storage). Stocks are long term buy and hold, with current top performers Google & Splunk. Currently awaiting IPOs on Tableau Software, 10gen and GitHub. And currently looking for my next career move!
