  • Toronto-Dominion Bank: Excellent Retail Banking Results Will Drive Dividend Growth [View article]
This type of thinking and mentality is dangerous. I won't point you to any specific historical incidences or ratios that prove otherwise, as there's always ratios that are in favour and against any particular positions.. but this is the exact type of thinking that have costed many people's wealth in the past.

  • President and CEO Paul Otellini will retire in May, Intel (INTC) says, starting a six-month leadership transition period. Internal and external candidates will be reviewed, the company says. [View news story]
Hope a mobile guy can step in and push the company even harder in that direction.

This article, and especially the author, has been one of the most aggravating moments I've experienced on SA.

  • Market recap: The Santa Claus rally is alive and well, as a continued stream of mostly positive U.S. economic data (I, II) and the agreement to extend payroll tax cuts helped push stocks ahead to close at session highs. Of course, trading was light, Europe was quiet, and bond traders were in scarce supply, so it was hardly a directional day. NYSE advancing issues led decliners seven to six.  [View news story]
Love the upbeat attitude - hope you have a great holiday.

  • China's debt/GDP ratio of 20-30% isn't as attractive as it looks, writes Patrick Chovanec. Toss in contingent liabilities for the banks, local governments, and things like the railway system, and even optimists put the number at 90%. Pessimists put it at 200% or higher, Greek territory. Remember, Irish government finances were the envy of the world until its real estate boom went bust. In any case, "China's fiscal resources are not as limitless as they seem."  [View news story]
    You're a bubble.

Actually, Greek territory is far below 200% of GDP.

  • Zynga (ZNGA) reportedly prices its 100M share IPO at $10/share, the top of the range as reported in its S-1 filing, but less than chatter of $12. The company's valuation at that price will be $8.9B.  [View news story]
Shares will nearly double at the open tomorrow, underwriters should've priced in more. Even $15/share would have been a more reasonable valuation than $10. How is Groupon nearly twice the valuation of Zynga anyways?

  • Another rumor please. A German official hits the wires rejecting the reported draft measures, including giving the ESM a banking license. Stocks, the euro, and risk assets in general drop back to where they were before the first news hit.  [View news story]
    That was awfully quick.

  • Two Dividend Paying Stocks To Buy Now For Income And Retirement [View article]
    Hey Regarded Solutions,

I was wondering why you would prefer these two stocks over the energy companies, such as; TOT, STO, E that pay nearly twice the dividend with great growth prospects. As well, do you believe it's a good time to buy energy stocks mentioned above, now?

  • Japan is -1.2% and Australia -1.5% in early Tuesday trade. If the losses seem benign given events in Europe, remember Japan (-1.9%) and Australia (-2.4%) both fell sharply on Monday. Still to open is Hong Kong, which fell 3% on Monday. Gold remains a hair above $1,900/oz.  [View news story]
I think it's fair to pick up some shares ahead of the Obama speech, or maybe just a day too early?
