  • A Short-Term Rally Is Setting Up In Gold [View article]
If the IRA is a Roth IRA, no taxes paid on dividends if taken out after 59-1/2, at least that's what I gleaned from this: http://bit.ly/1zUMrjy

Patrick, I like the way you are approaching this.
I'm also an engineer and software developer and I deal with a good bit of math in my work as well. I'm very interested in your project, as I think there may be something to your delayed correlation idea.
I've posited to Avi before (never got a response) that sentiment is at least partly a delayed function of weighted fundamentals. And I agree that futures (and options) history, along with other price action must have some weightings in driving sentiment.
    Rock on! Following.

  • Its Time To Short Gold [View article]
It's been my experience that absolute statements like "...people claim they make money daytrading but the fact is that they do not in reality." are NEVER true. Surely, many daytraders lose money overall, some break even and some have net profits over a year, etc. Some professional day traders might be able to buy a beach house on prime real estate on one year's profits.
Absolutes are generally absolutely always false.

QP - I got on to the webinar and got the video and sound. It was very instructional for me. They said they would send out a link to the recorded video they made of it to all that signed up. I don't know if they will send the registered attendees an email with a link or what. The audio did get a bit garbled for some of it but they backed up and went over that for the audience.

  • GLD: What Will It Take To Resurrect The Gold Bull Market? [View article]
And if I'm wrong, I'll buy back in a bit higher. I've watched a few EW prophets get it mostly correct over the last several years - far better than I did using fundamentals. So I'm mixing my bad calls with the calls of others.

I hope you and others are correct - I sold 1/3 of my Gold PMs the other day almost near the local top. Hoping I can buy it back much cheaper this year.

I have a gut feeling (no data) that the number is higher than 95% of investors. But I wonder about what really matters - who percentage of the MONEY in somewhat liquid investment vehicles (PM, stocks, etc.) is giving PMs any thought. I have a feeling (no data again) that the percentage is lower than the percentage of investors giving PMs any thought.

Interesting read about Russian "news" and propaganda that some might want to consider before buying into all of this "Nazi" "Kyiv Fascists", US Plots in Ukraine, etc. Putin and his minions always craft this kind of narrative. To believe it means you are likely falling for their game. http://politi.co/1BfCIul

He said, she said. Those linked articles are slanted and politically charged as anything you can find from either "side" of this Ukraine/Russia argument. "Junta" "Nazi", etc. It's difficult to take such "reporting" as serious, unbiased journalism.

I already had, but here's another! :) Like you said, tasteless, but funny and there's truth in it. You of course are not the first to talk about the tax cheating in Greece. If so few pay, how are they to survive, with so many taking from the government. We in the US could surely do without some of our IRS - we should send our IRS over there - lots of fertile ground!

filipo - Great comment, and you should have mentioned that I shouldn't open that link at work - people are looking at me as I couldn't stop laughing at the video you linked! ;)

Played correctly both directions have probability and if levels hit in either confirmation of direction becomes more probable for that direction and local maxima.

I have a habit of reading all the comments in an article here on SA. I mean ALL. However, when someone shows up after Avi can defend himself and writes comments slamming him, I find myself ignoring such people. Usually these people can't understand that Avi's flavor of EW on Gold has brought many the info needed for short and medium term probability info needed to set up successful trades.
Others not used to Avi's methods and writing style will then get the wrong idea from such comments, which actually HURTS the discussion.
In order to help others not used to Avi's methods or writing style, I'm writing this to suggest to them that they read Avi very carefully. (In other words I'm adding to the discussion.)
The information in Avi's articles that are archived here are for short to intermediate term investing mostly, and are probabilistic. This must be understood or you will miss what he writes.

Well stated, gelstretch. You, QP, and quite a few others here have been teaching us a great deal and I for one very much appreciate these selfless acts. I'm sure Avi is glad to see his last article be the tool used to do this. Sure, his articles used to put a tiny bit of change in his pocket and surely he's gained a few more members to his site, but he came here to share knowledge mainly and to help people see a different way to look at the PMs, especially in the short term.
Thanks to you all and may your holidays be happy.

Avi has been talking about gold going higher in the long term for quite a while. Too many read his articles here and see a message that the probabilities for going low are higher but what they don't catch is that he means in the short term.
