  • "Apple's (AAPL) sorta cheap," says Jeff Gundlach, admitting he's now long the stock he famously shorted 100-200 points ago. He doesn't seem terribly excited about the company's business prospects, but - selling for 7x earnings (excluding cash) - a hot new product isn't necessary to make the investment profitable. "(Apple) can keep selling a whole bunch of expensive new phones and iPads, and they'll be a cash cow." [View news story]

  • The Truth Behind Apple's Numbers [View article]
It is clear that he does not "like" AAPL...It is amazing how someone using numbers to make his point can be so "subjective".....
The reality is that no one knows what will happen to the stock. But, most analysts believe AAPL is undervalued at its current level. Keep that in mind, and look around you see why it is worth being bullish on AAPL.
I think though that AAPL echelon should spend more money in ads. PR is very valuable in today's market, specially in a highly competitive industry where your closest competitors are filling the airwaves.

  • More Tepper: Turning to individual ideas, he says Citigroup (C) has become one of his biggest positions. On Apple (AAPL): If the company doesn't have something "revolutionary" coming, it better do something "evolutionary" - bigger screen, cheap iPhone. If we don't see anything by September, then it's "Houston we got a problem," and Tepper hopes he's quicker on the sell button than everybody else. [View news story]
I think Tepper has been watching a lot of CNBC.......

  • Samsung Electronics (SSNLF.PK) says its Q1 profit rose 42% to a record high on strong smartphone sales. Net profit rose to a record KRW7.15T ($6.4B), up from KRW5.05T a year earlier. Operating profit rose 54% to KRW8.8T from KRW5.7T. Sales rose 16.8% to KRW52.9T from KRW45.3T, coming in in line with the company's guidance of KRW51T to KRW53T. The results stand in stark contrast those of Apple (AAPL), which earlier this week reported its first profit drop in a decade and forecast margins to decline in the current quarter ending in June. [View news story]
Apple an Samsung, both have their market shares, and each is a good company in the way they survive and make money. It does not have to be one or the other. I personally believe AAPL has better- made products though.......
besides, with this huge negative sentiment surrounding AAPL for the last 7 months, and seeing the great numbers of Samsung, it is quite impressive to see the numbers that AAPL reported few days ago, even with slightly lower margins.....for now !

  • You Better Duck - Apple's Unit Profits Are Falling [View article]
you are assuming that profits will continue declining at the rate it did this past quarter. well, rates of a year or two ago were assumed to climb, and it did until it fell......Now profit rates are assumed to fall, which it might until it stops and it could later rise again......or it could stabilize (I take these rates over all the competition any day).....some want to see the glass half full, and others half empty !

  • Apple Investors Are Missing The Big Picture [View article]
makes absolute sense, which wall street is short on, especially when it comes to AAPL. can't explain this "excessive" reaction to the Tuesday earnings report. I take the Cook-projected "lower" growth rates of AAPL (around 36%) over those of its competitors anytime....

  • BlackBerry Prepares The New Keyboard [View article]
Karl, you put my thoughts in writing......I am sure millions can't find a way to stop junk mail from hitting their mailboxes, and in time many touch screen lovers will eventually get to that stage. The Q10 screen is enough for I want it to do. If I want to watch a movie, I sit on a couch in front of my big screen TV, and if I am traveling, I use my iPad........ I can't see how the "Facebook model" of monetization will work to profitability.
    Great insight.

I have worked in real estate for 25 years, as a broker, manager and investor.
I have also invested a small part of my money in stocks and bonds through a financial advisor for about 20 years. 7 years ago I started trading and investing in stocks daily, on my own and through a broker.
