  • Expect Twitter To Put Itself Up For Sale [View article]
Isn't that the same concept that TV and Radio have been using for years? No need to know your audience, just their interest and numbers. If so, Twitter has amassed a pretty big chunk of public, no other platform can send a message quicker. FB has become real boring and photo focused.

  • Why Groupon Can Soar Like [View article]
Groupon is undervalued and not going anywhere any time soon. over $1b in cash to fund operational cost, building strong customer base. Tons of good deals on electronics, travel is ok but could be better, the local deals need to improve as well. Overall, worth much more than a meager $2.9. The company needs better PR, they are running like a private company not publicly traded. Think Lefkovski stopped his automatic stock sales but not 100% sure.

Also, GRPN would be perfect for Google holdings aka Alphabet. They need to diversify out of ad business at some point. Twitter and FB will take a lot of eye balls and ad business away from Google IMHO.

I agree with you that many merchants are not happy about Groupon but it's the same situation with eBay and even Amazon (price-compete squeeze model). That's the reality of commerce. However, Groupon's customer experience is real good. I want them to introduce a channel where goods manufacturers can directly sell to consumers under "Groupon" brand. I am talking about all kinds of expensive generic items such as razor blades, diapers, plasma TVs etc. Also they could be doing more in travel business taking on priceline and hotels. com.

Think Groupon will rise for different reasons but not short play. Short algos are very sophisticated these days, they manage to cover their position rather quickly.

Groupon somehow assumes the customer experience but as it usually happens many merchants pull those tricks out, when you sign up for ATT they will charge you hidden "activation fee" and other bs.

I think is going to be bakrupt and let me tell you why. Their whole business model depends on airlines to give them inventory. So far it worked, but airlines are merging and getting smart. They will figure out how to cut out the middle-men aka travel agency because they can do it too and in the process keep the moneys. They already have partnerships with bunch of other airlines and booking services. Many airlines are taking away seats from Priceline already.

  • Twitter: Time To Call Uncle [View article]
Well, you are using the wrong analogy (very similar to what politicians use to fake a point).

For example, one single event in the world such as birth of a royal baby, world cup, box match etc. instantly produces millions of tweets. Yes, millions. Imagine now going fully commercial with those tweets, it is always on the spot and a pure paradise for marketers. Google search is nothing compared to TWTR relevancy.

Now, the numbers I was referring to were from the current quarter. To value TWTR based on these is ludicrous and I made same points 4 years ago on NFLX, 2 years ago on AAPL - if you don't believe look up a handful of comments I have made so far - all predictions came true. So let me shoot another one - TWTR will go over $100 within a couple of years.

  • Petrobras Drillships Contracts Suspended; Is National Oilwell Varco's $3B Backlog In Jeopardy? [View article]
The exposure to Brazil will move with the oil price. Think, NOV should be looked at in this context rather than backlog contract risk. If oil jumps above 70-80 any time soon, Brazilians will figure it out trust me. On another hand, if we see further slump in oil the whole sector will get decimated again and again. Middle east is the key, republican president equals more wars etc.

Another 60% downside. Wow... No news or communication can be carried out without Twitter today, No millions of ppl can be reached instantly. Naturally, lot of folks struggle with valuation at this point because the numbers don't tell the story.

  • Dark Clouds Forming For Cloud Computing Companies [View article]
"Workday, Netsuite (N) and have a combined market capitalization of $60 billion which is about equal to Hewlett Packard. They have combined sales of $4.8 billion versus $112 billion for Hewlett Packard, who earns more net income every year than their combined revenues. - This was the case all along for at least couple of years. Wondering why everyone realized this all of a sudden? Now, if you throw in AAPL numbers vs HPQ you will be even more shocked. However, if you throw in revenue growth it changes the picture a bit.

AAPL trades at bargain vs. MSFT not to mention AMZN. A lot of things make no sense.

  • Not So Good News: Apple, Adobe [View article]
A7 chip with 64 bit is essentially a replacement for PC. 5s will be the best selling phone in history and 6 will come right after with bigger screen. iTV, iWatch around the corner. Reading support level equals reading tea leaves. This stock jumps really really high, Asian copycats Android makers depend on Google too much.

  • Netflix Hits New 52 Week Low: What's Next? [View article]
There will be tens of millions new electronic devices pushed out (tablets, PCs) and the only good souce of entertainment is Netflix streaming. Amazon is often cited as a competitor but it is not even close. It is even burried in the amazon website and hard to find not to mention use. And you need to pay a year subscription plus per movie - not a great pricing model.

Netflix did one notable mistake and that is ditching its DVD business too quick and too fast. As a consumer I am really pissed that I have to pay additional dollars to have those DVDs shipped to me but this is something they could easily fix if they wanted and fully understood.

It is essentially the same company if not better as it was when the stock price was $260 so not sure why all this negativity.

  • Hewlett-Packard Will Tank Without Firm PC Grip [View article]
@musiccomposer - Well, I think you are the one sadly mistaken because you are missing the point. Everything good that Apple ever made had Jobs signature in it. He was a God of consumer product - never compromising or giving a crap about Wall St. or such.

Now, it is all about stock price, supply chain and other fronts. Just watch and see - I guarantee you there will be nothing amazing coming from Apple anymore. Authoritive characters will take over power and talent will be surpressed - just like what happened when Bill and Dave faded out from HP.

Well, HP made a ton of bad acquisions - EDF, Autonomy etc adding more then 150,000 employees. It turned out these folks are not as productive as they used to be.

HP PC is still number 1 in the world and delivers most solid products.

Apple did score high with iPad but they are very limited in operability and also have many glitches (many websites do not load properly etc.)

It is just the excitement because a truly new product in the PC world was not introduced for almost 2 decades now.

Without Steve, Apple will never ever again launch a revolutionary product again - they will just reitarate versions of ipods, ipads until another competitor makes a better product.
