      Midstream MLPs Crashing, Present Opportunity
How can one determine if a given MLP's compensation is fee based or price based....are all the ones mentioned in this article fee based? Thanks!

Why the Financial Markets Haven't Responded
It's OUR collective fault..."we the people"! We elect Congresses that spend, spend, spend,....we elect Presidents that promise a chicken in every pot ( without having a clear plan as to "how" they'll produce those chickens)...we expect a risk-free existence a la our "when in doubt, sue somebody" legal system....we live way beyond our means versus below them....and we value what we want right now, versus having the discipline to wait. Have I mentioned that our education system sucks...yet we keep on voting in the bozos of BOTH parties, because they look good on TV...or promise us something for nothing...yet both parties produce the same old labyrinth of tired programs.

Net/Net: We have met the enemy...and he is US!
Stop blaming Bush, Clinton, Congress, etc, etc., ...and simply look in the collective mirror. Until we "grow up" as a society and get back to some core values, we have no one to blame but ourselves.

Your being put on hold for 25-30 minutes during a time of extraordinary market volume is hardly grounds for such a headline.

Obama vs. McCain: Who's Better for Dividend Investors?
In light of the fact that the Congress and the Fed have MUCH greater impact on the economy that any President, correlating stock market returns to who is President is about as useful as those I've seen correlating it to phases of the moon.

      Diversification Is Your Only Friend
With all due respect, HumbleBee, if one has a long-enough investing time frame, I would suggest the Warren Buffet approach...buy the good companies when they are cheap versus getting out of the market. No, all of your purchases will not be exactly at the bottom, but over time, times like these are the very best times to establish positions in great companies that get punished along with the not so great ones. An added bonus is that you avoid the tax bill of constantly entering and exiting the market

If you really want to make your point, deal in a longer time period ( i.e. back at least through the last major bear in 2000-2001 ). How low did the numbers go then? The short-term graph you use doesn't correlate to anything but short-term price movements.

      Oil, Stock, and Housing Declines
The last time I looked, neither housing or the S&P essentially doubled in less than a year.....unlike oil.

So what's the big surprise here? From a MUCH greater speculative peak, comes a bigger decline in a shorter period of time.

I own CNQ, but at a .44% dividend, I'd hardly classify it as "high yield". Yes, it has raised it's dividend for 7 years, but from a very small base...it has a long way to go until "high yield" territory.

jcordes, isn't it amazing when the shoe is on the other foot! When the Democrats stall things in a "Republican" Congress ( including drilling, refineries, nuclear, etc., , the Congress is deemed "do nothing"; when it happens the other way around, it's "gridlock" from those bad old Republicans.

      Dontcha just love double standards!?!
