Absolute bull! Trying to defend the original article's yield calculation ( "dividend" divided by EPS ) is totally wrong. If the point you'd like to make is that the KMP's coverage of it's "distribution" might be lower in the future due to less distributable cash flow...fine. Do the math right!!

Traditional "payout ratios" ( derived from looking at dividends versus earnings ) are NOT the proper measurement for MLP's ( Master Limited Partnerships ) "unit contribution" sustainability , since they are required to payout a high percentage of their cash flow in order to qualify for special tax treatment.

I suggest you do your homework as to the difference between C-corp stocks and MLP's before writing about them again!]]>

Now, take the above and apply to most of the recent bailouts ( mortgages, autos, banks, insurance companies, etc, etc. )

Why are we not enraged by those for the same ( and other ) reasons?! I am!

The last time I looked, it is Congress that spends the money, not the President. A recent study ( showed that the best fiscal results occurred when the political power is split ( i.e. different party controls Congress vs Presidency ), versus when a single party is in charge of both.

How about just stopping the buybacks altogether ( after all, they are mostly there to cover your stock options and to help the price so you can cash in )...and just stick to dividends all the time?!]]>

Good article; good thought above. How does an average investor short U.S. Treasuries? What vehicle(s) is/are available to the retail investor?

Thanks in advance for educating me! ;-)
