  • Bush's New Drilling Proposal: Fixing a Hole  [View article]
"...New drilling might help, but not for at least ten years; and by then, demand will likely have overtaken supply by an even wider margin...."

What an amazing bit of logic- because something can't help short term, do nothing!! That is the exact same logic used 10 years ago that helped get us right where we are today. Amazingly short-sighted...and now we are paying for those decades of always doing nothing, because it won't help "right now". Seriously stupid policy, IMHO.

  • Investors Intelligence Bullish Readings [View article]
IMHO, 6+ years is way too short a period of time to attempt to draw this sort of correlation.

  • Costco, Wal-Mart Lead a Consumer Revolution [View article]
This sort of thing ( consumers downgrading when times/inflation are tough ) has happened many times before. While you present some interesting data, I wouldn't characterize these trends as a "Revolution"....more like a cycle.

What absolutely useless information! If this is your stock in trade ( useless statistics for the sake of sound bite headlines ), you won't last very long.

    Yawn....so what?!?

Write about something more substantial, or just ignore the impulse to write. This article is absolutely useless.

  • Financials Give Up Most of Bull Market Gains [View article]
I'm with CloroxCowboy on this one...all you do is present statistics with no conclusion or analysis. In fact, having read a number of your articles over the past few days, the same pattern occurs in almost all of them.

Bottom line: If you don't bring anything to the table, I ( and probably many others ) will simply put you on the "ignore " list.

  • Does Buy-and-Hold Work on Major Blue Chips? [View article]
One postscript along the selected statistics line...why does one company's chart start in 2000 and another in 1998?

  • Does Buy-and-Hold Work on Major Blue Chips? [View article]
When one selects the Blue Chips and the time period they want to prove a pre-determined point, it is hardly a surprise that the point is "proven". (BTW, since when is 7+years considered "long-term"?)

An analysis of all the Blue Chips as a group, over at least 15- 20 years, which includes dividends might be more revealing of the truth than a selective analysis that starts at an overheated market peak.

  • Safety in Dividends? [View article]
1.Did you include the dividend's contribution to total return when figuring out whether a stock was "up" or not for the year?

2.Could be a spurious correlation, in that dividend paying stocks are dominated by a currently out of favor sector-financials.

  • Buffalo Wild Wings: Finger Lickin' Good  [View article]
    Hi User 190144!

I was aware of the stock split. When one shows a chart, all the data should be split-adjusted...so, IMHO, the chart is not "correct"...it is "apples and oranges".

You may want to check your source on the BWLD stock price chart. According to what I see on other sources ( Big Charts, etc. ), BWLD's 52 week high is 47.75, not the over $80 price shown on your chart.

  • Fixing Pfizer [View article]
".... "I took 500 mg pills of niacin daily for a few weeks in my 20s over 30 years ago and it definitely made (me) red, hot and tingly. Gave it to my brother as he did not believe me. Half-hour later he had the same issues."...

Just a bit of an update regarding this issue...you can now get flush-free, timed-release niacin, which avoids this issue for most. I was put on Lipitor some years ago, which helped drive my genetically-high LDL down to the 190 range from the 290 range. Upon my older brother's advice, I started taking a 500 mg flush-free niacin capsule, plus a 1000 mg fish oil concentrate gel cap ( fatty acids ) every day ( in addition to continuing Lipitor ). My LDL has reached it's lowest level ever..in the 160 range.
