    Maybe that's telling you that values are high....certainly a lot of divvy rates are at the low end of the yield charts.

    Things change over time - what is considered "good value" at one price level is not a good risk at a far higher value. NUE was an excellent buy in the upper 20s thru mid 30s. Up here tho? If you want to initiate a position, go for it. I'm holding mine and will add thru dripping - but not adding any blocks.

    Does this dividend stream make my portfolio look fat?

    I'm pretty sure we DGI advocates all look alike to the total return crowd. I mean all our portfolios are exactly the same, we all do the same with our divvies and we only only only only buy stocks on the CCC list - there can be no deviation. We are DGIborgs

    As always a thoughtful and useful article.

    Straight DRIPper here - my thought process is: If I want to own it, I want to keep owning it.

    If something is wildly "overvalued", then I really ought to be looking to sell/reduce my outright position and not just the divvy stream itself.

  • Johnson & Johnson Dividend Stock Analysis [View article]
    @Bahamas

    D4L is long over 5% of his portfolio - as it states in the article - I'm long about 3.5% - my average cost is well below the "fair value" price as I've been an investor for years - and I know D4L has been as well.

    If you read the article, he's not saying sell - he's saying it's above the price where he'd considering adding. If you think this is a great and awesome price to start a position in JNJ - be my guest. I don't. I'm happy to hold and drip it here - but not add. That is what "fair value" is about.

    You criticized D4L's price metric - as "ridiculous" - I've shown that this valuation is reasonable. You've been asked several times to show an alternative - and have not produced - preferring instead to rely on an ad hominem attack and hand waving.

    Good day

    @Bahamas - what makes you think I'm not long - just like D4L is?

    Feel free to post your metric for "fair value" any time.
