Wow, the dark clouds just rolled over as I read that information. Contagion across the pond is only around the corner.

    Rocco,

Agreed. AAPL continues to change the mobile world as we know it, even though the stock sold off on the news it was more of a gift than anything for AAPL bulls. My question is are you short RIMM in the 10k portfolio or just personally? Also, would you suggest going long RIMM puts or short RIMM stock outright?

    Thanks for your good work.

  • An Amazon.com Short Case  [View article]
I too believe this is a great short story. AMZN operates with less than 6% margin, therefore if the sales tax levy goes through there profits will be essentially nil. Overvaluation is also the obvious fundamental, and the technicals are forming bearish divergences. Time to get short or buy puts.

  • ECRI U.S. Recession Forecast Will Weigh Heavily On Global Stock Markets  [View article]
James, thank you for the prompt response. It seems this headline hasn't been fully digested by the markets yet and I agree the bloodletting will probably come out next week. If corporate earnings also disappoint then the negative confluence of events in October could be drastic. SP500 target at 950-1050 seems generous now, I suspect we will see sub-1000 levels very soon.

ECRI just proclaimed a new recession is upon us and cannot be avoided. These people have a history of being right on with no false positives. Your thoughts James?

  • Solar Stocks To Buy Now  [View article]
Wow James, very surprised by your solar stock conviction. Although I agree the numbers look very undervalued on the surface, and the Chinese put is definitely a viable argument, the one huge overhang is the integrity of the Chinese financials. As you may know, Muddy Waters has just been plucking these fraudulent financial statements from various Chinese companies like they are growing on trees. How can we trust the financials which seem to be the basis of your purchases?

  • Hold Onto Your Apple: Its PE Is About To Experience A Gut Wrenching Drop  [View article]
Bottom line AAPL is undervalued by just about every metric used on WS. It will stairstep higher as it has the past several years, 10-20% breakout followed by 5-10% consolidations. Go long and stay long until Jobs is six feet under, then reassess.

  • China And The Metals Bubble  [View article]
It would make sense for China to stockpile before prices rise, use the cheap stockpiles while prices are inflated instead of adding new expensive inventory, then when prices fall due to the artificial slack they created they can turn around and restock their inventories at lower prices. I suppose that would be the definition of manipulation, but also not a bad idea if they are paying lower than average prices by such maneuvers.
