  • BreitBurn Energy Partners declares $0.04166 dividend [View news story]
It's in their new agreements that they cannot raise the payouts on the common. That is probably the main reason they are holding, because once they slash there is no going back for a longtime.....which is why I believe at some point they will goto a .01 cent distribution, and there it will remain until all of this is sorted out.:(

I actually sold too at 20.81!!! I began thinking how it seemed like too many people were taunting the author....(myself included):/ So after rethinking everything I sold out. Already having the dividend in my pocket and being up on the whole position already were also huge factors.

The Saudis could really screw up big again. They let prices stay too high for too long and it allowed shale to become viable.....now they are gonna let prices stay too low for too long and that will stimulate new technology!! Then we will be stuck in a very long period of low prices. They will then be sooooooo screwed.....

Plus how the hell is a OPEC induced price collapse more serious than 2008?? Someone explain that?

These upstream MLPs price action is getting totally ridiculous! What the hell were they doing paying out such massive dividends when they had so much debt? Shows they don't know what's coming in the future more than anyone else. Maybe we are closer to the end of this than most people think????

It is extremely unlikely that this situation will remain past 2016 ....Venezuela will collapse into chaos! And that, will in turn collapse oil production in that country. This is more about who has the "financial" staying power to outlast everyone else.

Without getting into all kinds of details. I believe it is possible for CVX to cut their dividend......but there is no way XOM will. By the time they have to even consider doing a move like that there will so much chaos and damage in the oil sector that supply will be dropping and prices will naturally be rising.

    Gary
Surely something will happen on the supply side by the end of this year. Whether or not OPEC wants to cut some members will have to. Venezuela for example will collapse into a state of chaos if this keeps up too much longer. What do you suppose will happen to oil production when the government breaks down??
