My career has primarily been in industries that develop technology, information technology in particular. I am an artist if my education determines my core competency, and I'm an engineer if the bulk of my work is the signifying profession. And, business administration is a particularly important part of my work life, as well. I wear many hats in my present work, from being a founder of a small business to writing code to measure business performance, in particular performance of online businesses. I've worked in search technology and online marketing for over 12 years now, starting my path at Ask Jeeves back in 1999 (you may recall this search engine if you were online back then). I then went on to start a consultancy and helped several small companies establish a presence online line and build successful advertising campaigns. During this time I learned to program or develop Web sites and configure servers and databases and many of the components that make the WWW functional. I then took a job at Google working as a User Interface Engineer and later moved on to work for 24/7 Real Media in the 24/7 Search division, where I worked closely with Yahoo! in various partnerships involving marketing campaigns and feed production, among other things. I then worked for a couple of startups that didn't quite fly. And, recently founded an online marketing agency with a partner and have been embroiled in the trials and tribulations of building a business. I am a novice investor. I became frustrated with lack of competence that financial advisers tend to come with. And, I took matters into my own hands. I particular like options trading. And, I'm learning more every day. I live in Dallas, after moving to Texas six years ago from Silicon Valley and the Bay Area.
