  • Report: Rio Tinto considering making a bid for Turquoise Hill [View news story]
The one positive out of all this news is the noise. By that I mean the attention the stock is now receiving. Trading volumes are huge and I suspect as more investors begin evaluating this company's potential we can expect more buyers to drive the stock up.

Timeline wise I had planned to hold for several years given the growth potential of the company as underground assets are mined and sold. With a more regular and growing operation we can expect a more operational oriented firm and begin to possibly pay dividends and the obviously expected capital gains.

This stock can only go up from here. Be it today, tomorrow or in a year from now, it's going to go up!

    IMO.

    Cheers.

Thanks for the input Marpy. I've been following TRQ for quite some time as well. While $8 will make me a handsome profit, I too am expecting quite a better offer considering the assets at hand.

    Cheers!

What would happen to current shareholders if this were to actually play out. Also, this doesn't seem like a fair valuation that most would be willing to let their shares go for.

  • Turquoise Hill plans rights offering for Oyu Tolgoi [View news story]
@Jayinbaker - I completely agree - especially after reading this article http://yhoo.it/I0SrUr - things are looking quite promising. All parties are coming to the table to get things resolved, this dip is great for parties to grab up more shares. Quite the no brainer that this stock is a great long-term investment. Looking to get money together to exercise the rights to purchase additional shares should it come to fruition.

  • Turquoise Hill falls 15% as Mongolia project delayed [View news story]
@marpy - I'm assuming in summation what your saying - GoM is greedy & trying to bully RIO but RIO is basically saying, "We ain't having none of this. We're going to stop going forward until you are ready to play fair - your move GoM."

I'd like to hope so, seeing a huge decline hurts but I am still relatively comfortable with this investment considering its RIO backing it and the undeniable leverage it has with regards to the mine (30% of Mongolia's GDP).

    I just see it as a setback...again.

Anyone else able to chime in and see if my logic makes sense?

Let's hope your right Infinity =). Crazy storm in Toronto, hopefully the clearing after the storm is a symbol of Blackberry coming out of the storm =P.

Thanks for the article here, valuable opinion.

    Still long.

  • BlackBerry Q10 Outsells iPhone 5 And Galaxy S4 In France [View article]
    @infektu
    Thanks for the reply lol.

I think your original argument still holds some water, the probability that each device is numbered chronologically is less likely a coincidence but more likely a representation of its sales.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the observation. The % ratio you ran, was it statistical probability or simply an expression?

(By no means do I mean to sound sarcastic - text doesn't convey emotion well)

I agree with your points wiesje in your first paragraph, but i'd like to hear more about the points you made with regards to potential structural issues and the upbeat mood diminishing.

I'm long BB - I feel that this low volume and flat SP movement may have more to do with people waiting to see the Q1 results of the BB10 devices. After june 28th and leading up I suspect volume will return and the stock will have legs again to make some gains as both shorts and longs re-evaluate their position (to cover and increase their positions respectively).

I think institutional buyers are not yet convinced of the turn around nor are the shorts which is the reason for the lag in the SP appreciation.

Just my thoughts. Would love to hear more of yours!

Disclosure - I'm long BB and a new trader.

Exactly the point to get across Michael! Whether or not its a #1 seller, the Blackberry 10 phones are making headway from the past OS7 devices and are selling well!

We'll need to wait until June 28th to hear the #s, but this is a clear indicator that the market has a place for Blackberry!

  • BlackBerry: Status Update [View article]
    Firstly I'm Long BBRY,

However, it is important to match up the z10 to this year's new line up - 920, s4, 5s etc. Its good to support Blackberry but we should be weary that these other devices are what z10 should benchmark against.

To speak to the s4 - I currently have an s3 as my daily work device and from what I can tell, the s4 is an s3 refresh with boosted specs (Following Apple's Lead). This, to a market of individuals who purchase based on hype and popularity will definitely eat up a lot of the market and buy into it. By no means is the s4 a poor alternative to the z10.

What we as BBRY longs should be weary of is letting our emotions control our views, but remain objective and evaluate current offerings from other competitors and evaluate what ours (BBRY) is offering in contrast.

My approach will be seeing how the market reacts and adopts the very innovative approach BBRY has taken on the navigating smartphones & the app developer community and their interest in BBRY.

The z10 but more so the BB10 os is a fantastic start and with this head-way that BB has made in terms of the OS, I feel will gather back its followers and slowly build up its application base to offer a full smartphone solution and experience equivalent to that of an Android/iOS device with the added experience and improved productivity/efficiency.

    Cheers!

I sincerely hope so as well. Once the smartphone market matures and the market isn't so dominated by two large players, we as consumers will benefit from the healthy competition and enjoy the forward momentum that it brings in technology and growth.

    Cheers!
