I'm retired from a Fortune 500 company. I did a small amount of investing during my working years. Since my retirement, I have invested in, and did more studying of, stock investing. Fortunately, I do not need additional income from my investments to live on. My objective is to build a sizeable amount for my children to inherit after I die. To this end, my portfolio is primarily made up of aggressive stocks. This strategy has many potential dangers, not least of which is loss of capital investment. I managed to weather 2008 with a small loss, and I have since been able to increase the dollar value of my portfolio by 94%. While this is satisfying, it amounts to roughly 18% increase in value per year. I will be quite
satisfied if I continue to accrue this amount for my remaining years.
