  • Lululemon Is A Stronger Buy After Earnings [View article]

Hmm...The net inventories seem to be increasing over the years. This looks like a bad trend.

But I am more curious on how you think.

    Hey Bill,

Is inventory turnover a red flag?

  • When Did Apple Hit The Wall? [View article]
    Hey George,

Your personal anecdote is certainly interesting to read. I guess what we don't understand is the basis of why you dismiss Altucher's 2-trillion prediction outright.

Is the prediction really "forgotten"? It doesn't seem so. Hedge fund manager David Einhorn has said quite a few things why 1 trillion is possible. SAer has argued 1.5 is alright. If their predictions are correct, I don't think it's entirely impossible for 2 trillion comes.

Also, is Apple really hitting a wall recently? If you look at the stock yearly, the yearly gain this year (~40%) is bigger than last year (25%). In what sense does it "hit the wall"?

So I am afraid - just like others - that I couldn't quite agree with your article. Of course, feel free to elaborate more if you have a chance.

This is quite reasonable EPS is still growing in a crazy rate.....

Other than the multiple surgical procedures which are approved and they will dish out. Do you see other drivers of growth as well?

    Hey Bill,

As the company starts to be big, do you see the growth will slow down?

  • Einhorn Still Thinks Apple Is Still Cheap, I Still Don't Want To Own It [View article]
    DS,
From your article, I believe you and Einhorn are having difference in investment style. There is also an obvious difference the good risk/reward tradeoff points of yours.

So I couldn't take your article as a serious refutation. I do respect your point of view though.....

  • Why McDonald's Is Not Yet Cheap Enough [View article]
I wish the trademarked analysis method would be replaced by some standard financial terms or mathematical symbols.

My unwillingness to read on is pretty much proportional to the number of trademarks symbols.

@bedrock: Point taken. Btw, as you might be aware. Trading on book value is a dangerous thing: hypothetically, let's say the company liquidate, stock holders might not really got what they see on the balance sheet.

@Yasch, thanks for your points. They are all quite interesting.

At the end of the day, I think RIM is really failing tremendously. Stock price speaks quite a lot about how investors see a company. Going down for 80% looks like a very obvious sign.

I also noticed that some hedge fund manager bought into RIM and some with a fairly high cost basis. For example, David Einhorn has bought RIM at a cost basis of around $14.5. (gurufocus.com) but reduced holdings in March. It's still a question of whether he will go green.

Is that really a good sign? I trust that star hedge fund manager are very good in analyzing stocks but they might be incorrect in one or two holdings.

Anywho. Thanks for all of your answers. This discussion certainly makes me understand RIM and its investors more.

    Bill,
As always, great article. I am long convinced that RIM is done. Takeover is the last hope. Turnaround is unlikely.

Questions I have in my mind: how come there are still RIM long? What do you perceive why there are people believe RIM can turnaround or their products still matter?

I don't even bother reading this..... The thing is Terry Gau had officially denied rumors which Foxconn is building a TV for Apple. If we have a definitive source, may be we can start to speculate.
