"AAPL investors are tipping that dangerous scale as they move from smart investors riding the upward momentum of a great company's stock to an emotional cult that runs the risk of seeing massive gains turn to considerable losses overnight."
I have no idea what the whole VBI attempts to do. Nor I don't know what 6 out of 10 means. Simple psychology though, people are buying SBUX's growth at the moment. If you think DCF and relative value..... yeah..... it is not a screaming buy.
Why I Will Not Be Listening To Apple's Earnings Call Live [View article]
Hey Rocco,
As always, I am long Apple but I respect your view. Though Q2 iPhone sales demolished estimates, it's the iPad sales are worrisome. In fact, imagine if Cook decided to call iPhone 5 to be "new IPhone", I would expect sales would chill like "new IPad" as well. Something is missing already.
I guess the only difference between our views is that I expect the exuberance will tone itself down after another half a year. On one hand, I would be rational hesitant to buy more. On the other hand, I would also avoid shorting the stock at this moment.
In any case, always enjoy your article and happy trading.
I fully understand your standpoint of long Pandora. In fact, it's price starts to be more tempting and I might want to join the game.
There is one thing your DCA strategy bugs me though In the great misfortune, if P really goes down perpetually, then your strategy doesn't have any safety measure such as "cut loss at X%". You would end up having P in lower and lower cost basis.
The part that I feel uncomfortable is that DCA in this situation might be more dangerous a simple buy-and-hold trading strategy of "Buy the stock and cut loss when it drop for X%".
In any case, perpetual spiral down has very low probability. I just wonder how you would deal with this particular "corner case".
One Way To Avoid Getting Burned In An Options Trade [View article]
Hey Rocco,
Great article. Though I might not use option. I found I shared your view on Lulumon.
To understand why Lululemon is going up so quickly, I just went to visit a store today. The result is - I found it a very *compelling* long term investment. The personals are very amicable and they are extremely enthusiastic about their own products. This reminds me of an Apple store.
I wasn't into yoga at all (,I am more a gym person), but her enthusiasm makes me consider to be a yogi (just learned the term today too). In any case, I have also seriously considered to buy a $150 windbreaker. After think it over, I decided to buy two more stocks of LULU instead.
It also amazes me that there are only 128 stores in the world. Some regions are clearly under-developed, there is only one store in Asia. None in Europe. (Compare that with GAP: 3248.)

Hey Modernist,
How I love your responses. :) Of course, to write mea culpa for my comment - though I found cloud-based robots is far-fetched, I believe in the threat of Google Glass to Apple and Facebook.

Are Apple Investors Too Optimistic? Maybe [View article]
Paul, I followed your articles and I know you have been on the long side until today.
I am a Apple long but I think your warning is justified. There are too much irrational exuberance in Apple lately. In short term, it's better to expect there are some reasonable correction from Mr. Market.

Hey Stephen,
Thanks for your reply. I believe you have considered the alternative thesis.
For your dislike on Pandora. I either agree or disagree. But I will give you one piece of information which only technies (like me) know : Pandora's recommendation technology is based on a long time Music Genome project. To replicate it, a company needs to collect a large amount of music information. The computer algorithm is also not easy to build. To say the least, you are talking about researchers in different field from satellite radios.
At the end, I think you are giving me a clearer picture of what you really think the future can be.

Sirius Overload: Pandora Has Little To Do With Satellite Radio's Demise [View article]
What I like about this article is that you break out usual stands on Pandora, this really shows that you have considered both sides of the coin.
In fact, I might end up invest on both companies. Once again, I just hope that I have time to read up the media industry first.
